Thought #1:
My dog has been driving me crazy for over a week. Her pneumonia flared up and so she stopped eating. She's been up and down since I took her to the vet last Tuesday. She's on stronger and more expensive antibiotics, but they seem to be doing the job. I just wish she'd drink more water. :( The vet wants me to try and get a urine sample from her tomorrow morning before I bring her in. Well, she hasn't been drinking much water lately, so she's not been peeing in the morning. This is going to be difficult. But at least she's eating, though not much of her food yet.
Thought #2:
I had another example of how people drive with blinders on this morning. Okay, the gas station has entrances on two roads. WHY must you turn onto the road I want to go down to turn in when there is a fucking LINE of traffic sitting at the stop light to turn off the road and onto the road from which you've just turned? And then you back up traffic with SIX cars behind you who just want to go down the damn road!

Okay, if you want to speed up the play of baseball, why not try calling the strike zone a little more for the pitcher than the batter? Tom Glavine, awesome pitcher, had NINETY-SEVEN pitches in just five innings of work. NINETY-SEVEN! And they only scored two runs and had six hits and two walks. Uh, something is DAMN wrong here. That's a total of eight base runners. At full count for each, that's 48 pitches, true, but Tommy is a ground ball pitcher, which usually means 2 or 3 pitches. The batters have learned to lay off anything down and away because they know it'll be called a ball. They only swing at anything right down the middle, because that's all the umps are going to call a strike. There were a total of 312 pitches made, 194 of which were strikes, either called, swung and missed, or fouled off. The Braves went through four relievers, the Marlins had two. That right there is a waste of 15 minutes or so for warm-up tosses. The game took three hours. It used to only take two and a half to play a baseball game. Now, I know most people like to see lots of hitting in baseball, but I personally like a pitching duel. A fastball strikeout that gets the batter to swing out ahead of the ball, or too late, is a beautiful thing to see. It makes you appreciate the pitchers and what they have to do. If they are going to continue calling the strike zone so damn small, teams may as well put in their batting practice pitchers. I grew up thinking the strike zone was from the letters (near the shoulders) to the knees and the width of the plate. Now its from just above the waist to just below the belt and maybe the width of the plate, most of the time. So, quit your bitching, Commissioner Selig. Teach your umpires where the strike zone actually is and maybe you'll get your wish for a shorter game.

Vandal Skye is going to run a Scion game on our alternate Wednesday. That's so cool of him. It's been quite a while since I've been in a game with
baronsamedi where he's actually gotten to play. It will be fun. My character concept is a daughter of Tyr who is a public defender based in Miami. She's going to be fluent in several languages, Spanish most definitely and probably Latin, German and Italian to start. Oh yes, and Hebrew. I'm going to make her "father" Jewish. That should be very different. I need to find a picture for her. That will be the hard part. I have no idea how you people find pictures for characters. If anyone wishes to help, I would be most appreciative. I started thinking about her background last night and am probably going to start it with an article out of a newspaper, an interview with her. My only issue is trying to figure out what kind of father Tyr would be. Would he be involved in her life prior to her awakening? Would she even know about him? Would he just show up and awaken her powers and then go away? I need to research Tyr more, I guess. But he is pretty much very different from Bast. Juliet will be very different from Carina, though you know me, I'll still have some similarities. There are some things I just have to have in common with all my characters. Oh, I so pegged this right off. Juliet Daniels. Juliet, a variation on Julia, which means "youthful" and Daniels means (first Hebrew name I found and checked and... just wait...) "the judgment of God". Doesn't that just fit a child of Tyr? Her friends will call her Jules for short. I'll start working on her background more today. We'll see what happens with her. :)
Thought #5:
The Rada Scion group will be going to Japan next. This should be interesting.
dj_yomi is going to be introduced to us, so then we will have met three of the Petro group before we start working together. I don't think anyone from Rada has worked with Petro yet, though. Well, at least we'll know some of them and be familiar with their styles. I'm really looking forward to when we have the game with both groups together. That will be awesome. (and yes,
baronsamedi, that is me giving my approval of adding Erika to our game)
Well, I think that's all the thoughts for right now.
