I am unlikely to finish either of the books I am currently reading before tomorrow, so I am calling my book list for 2013 done. I read 131 books this year - more than last year, not as many as the year before that.
As always, if you are curious about what I'm reading (or details of any of these), look me up on Goodreads. But here is the list, in no particular order, of my 5-star books for 2013
:
The Tale of Despereaux, Kate DiCamillo
Stranger With My Face, Lois Duncan
Shelf Discovery: Teen Classics We Never Stopped Reading, Lizzie Skurnick
Attachments, Rainbow Rowell
The Time Traveller's Guide to Elizabethan England, Ian Mortimer
Bitter Kingdom, Rae Carson
The One and Only Ivan, Katherine Applegate
Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe, Benjamin Alire Saenz
Bomb, Steve Sheinkin
Poseidon: Earth Shaker, George O'Connor
Life After Life, Kate Atkinson
Eleanor and Park, Rainbow Rowell
The Interestings, Meg Wolitzer
Agent Gates and the Secret Adventures of Devonton Abbey: A Parody of Downton Abbey, by Cameren Subhiyah
Year of the Jungle, Suzanne COllins
Fangirl, Rainbow Rowell
The Riddle of the Labyrinth: The Quest to Crack an Ancient Code, Margalit Fox
Margot, Jillian Cantor
Longbourn, Jo Baker
In other words, this is the year I discovered Rainbow Rowell. :) Also, I started reading more children's books because of my job, and really loved some of them (Despereaux, Ivan). Aside from all the Rainbow Rowell, my favorites were probably Life After Life and The Interestings and Longbourn. You should read them all - yes, you. Really.
