Announcement: of interest to quite a few people, I imagine

Jul 29, 2006 14:06

I have the Ring and the Eye in my possession. Unless someone provides me with a good reason not to, in a fortnight I will do as follows:

The Items will be melted down.

The ensuing block of gold will be dissolved in Aqua Regia.

The ensuing mixture will be dropped from a plane into the Pacific ocean.

Note: When I say a reason not to, I mean it. ( Read more... )

You're joking, Kaiba. *tone light, despite automatic response to the idea of destroying the Eye* You're not honestly going to try something so patently impossible?

Why is it impossible? It's gold.

You wouldn't have to ask if you knew anything about how the Items were made, Kaiba. They aren't just gold.

How much of this do you know already?

Little other than hearsay. You can safely assume that I am largely ignorant on this issue.

And you want me to tell you, right now? *put-upon sigh* All of it?

You're the one suggesting that it melting it and dissolving it would be a bad idea.

Fine, fine, *sighs again*, all right, I'll tell you what I know. Have you heard of a village in Egypt called, I think it's Kur Elna?

No.

...I didn't think you would have. I might have the name wrong, I think that's what it was called. I used to read about this, you know, right after I got the Eye.

If I understood what I was reading, the people there were all killed, and their ashes were mixed with the gold that formed the Items.

Charming. However, I don't see why that would make the metal resistant to heat and acid.

*rolls eyes* No, I suppose you wouldn't. Think about it, Kaiba, they didn't put the ashes in there to make the gold shinier, they did it for a reason.

Yes - could the reason be to appeal to superstitious idiots who would then, out of fear, not attempt to get rid of the Items, perhaps?

Superstitious, *faint snort of derision*, what is it you think makes the Items work, Kaiba? -- You will admit they've got Power, won't you? -- You think that's superstition?

I admit they have power. I can't imagine that human ashes would have given them that. It makes no sense.
