A sunny Friday and some art!

A lovely sunny day today with temperatures of 12C/54F.  This morning I set some bread dough to prove before heading for the station to catch a train to London. Unfortunately, there was a faulty train blocking the tracks for the fast trains (that take 18 minutes) that come up from the South coast so I had to get on a slow train (which takes just over 30 minutes). This meant I was much later in London and had to sprint to get to the Tate Gallery from Waterloo to see the Cézanne exhibition.  When I got there it was so crowded that the 10.30 entry tickets weren't being let into the exhibition yet - so I need not have worried!

The exhibition is really big with some really interesting paintings - I've put photos of a couple of my favourites under the cut.

There were, of course, apples:

Here's a self-portrait of Cezanne in his 30s. He was very shy and rarely used actual models, so there were a lot of self-portraits and he used a lot of sculptures and later photos to get ideas for figures in his paintings.

I rather liked the preparatory watercolour sketches too. I thought they were better than some of the final paintings.

This was an interesting painting of flowers.

There were some lovely landscapes as well. I liked this one with the sea

I enjoyed the visit but rather than stay for lunch in London I headed home and I joined Mr Cee for lunch at 12.45. This afternoon I've been doing a bit of housework and later we'll be popping out for some groceries. Apart from baking the two loaves of sourdough that's about it for today!

So - here's today's question: 25. Do you self-censor a lot?
Not so much since I've retired. I do try not to offend anyone though :)

Aaaaaand as it's Friday there's a thefridayfive under this cut (all about food and drink!)

1. What is your favorite vegetable?
For versatility, I would have to say the potato. So many yums.

2. What is your favorite fruit?
I love raspberries.

3. What is your favorite cheese?
Ack! This is like choosing your favourite child!! If I have to pick one I suppose I’ll have to stick with English mature cheddar.

4. What is your favorite dessert?
In summer it’s ice cream and in winter it’s any kind of sponge pudding with custard.

5. What is your favorite beverage?
For health - water. For fun - good French red wine like a Fleurie or a Shiraz.

Aaaand I shall leave you with a photo of the things I've been making in stained glass for people. An interesting selection....

Happy Friday!
