Midweek

Today was chilly - 9C/48F so it should have felt warmer than yesterday, but there was a nasty wind.

I headed off to meet a friend at our local railway station and we headed up to London to go to the Tate Britain art gallery. We went to see Hogarth and Europe.  It was an interesting mix of paintings and etchings by contemporary artists and work by the man himself. If you check out the link there's a video of the sneaky clues Hogarth put into most of his work to explain the scene.

Of course the Rakes Progress was there as was the Harlots Progress which I'd studied quite a lot last week in my online fashion course. It was really interesting to see some of the original paintings for the etchings and to see how many satirical and clever ways he'd made social comment in his work. We also decided that he was a really good portraitist - his work looked like real people probably because he painted them as they really looked rather than trying to flatter them. It was interesting, not too busy and everyone was wearing a mask. *

We had a leisurely lunch and chatted for a while, and then made out way home back to our respective houses. Mr Cee has been out grocery shopping as I was tired after walking 4 miles through the gallery. I did a bit of work for the bellydance mentor and then we practiced the Tai Chi Fan dance (we think we might remember huge chunks of the choreography so that's good!).

Now we are relaxing.

19. Do you like reality/competition TV shows? Why or why not? If so, which ones?
I had to look up what the definition of a reality show which is: "a television programme in which ordinary people are continuously filmed, designed to be entertaining rather than informative"

So I'm assuming that means something like Big Brother, Made in Chelsea or Keeping up with the Kardashians which I've never seen and tbh I can't think of anything more boring to watch.

I do like Great British Bake Off and The Great British Sewing Bee (not that we watch every episode of that!), and Strictly Come Dancing is probably loosely connected to the genre.

*this may change next week as the restrictions are changing again. We will still have to wear masks on public transport, and I expect the big venues like art galleries will continue to ask you to wear them, but school children can stop wearing them in class. I feel sorry for my ex-colleagues.
