Today's forecast - 28C/83F and sunny.
Actual weather - 31.5C/89F and very SUNNY!
So the rain yesterday caused some serious issues such as schools and shops being flooded. We had a LOT of rain in a very short amount of time and the drains didn't cope very well as shown by a very quick video under the cut from a friend of mine of her road yesterday evening....
As a result it was much cooler last night which was a relief and I slept a lot better. This morning while the temperature was only 21C/70F I started the day doing some ironing and put some more laundry on. Then at 10am I had my penultimate session in the Brave New World: The Art of the 1930s online course. This week we were looking at photography. It covered some surrealist photography and some figurative/propaganda photography as well as fashion plates. As usual the two hours flew past and I shall miss the weekly sessions as I learn so much!
This afternoon was spent sorting out the pile of magazines I seem to have acquired (some of which I hadn't even had a chance to read!). It was useful! The laundry was put away, the kitchen was cleaned aaaaand then it was too hot to do anything else *phew*
We have nothing on this evening as we went for our usual walk yesterday.
Today's question: 21. Do you own anything that's an antique?
An antique is classified as something over 100 years old. I have a few things - the links take you to the definitions of what the items are or my Lj entry about them. A '
Davenport' desk (
my one which is 170 years old); a Victorian Edwards & Roberts Carlton House desk like
this one (130 years old - which needs restoring); a German made
Victorian wall clock (130 years old). I have some antique jewellery as well - a brooch from my Grandmother that's from the 1920s and a couple of Victorian rings.
