Thursday - learning new stuff......

Apr 22, 2021 20:33

Today has been sunny but with a cold wind. I started the day preparing the vegetables for lunch as we'd decided to have a large lunch as I had my new Pilates lesson this evening.

At 10.30 I started a new WEA course - A Guide to Understanding Paintings. I wasn't sure what to expect from this course, but it turned out to be delivered by an artist who is also a very good teacher. We looked at how to really look at paintings (it's called slow looking) so that we are considering all the aspects such as the size, the medium used, composition, technique and the signs and symbols (the content). It was really interesting and I'm annoyed I'm going to miss next week (which will be all about El Greco one of my favourite artists!!) as I finally have my hair appointment *sigh*.

After lunch I tidied up and then mid afternoon we had a delivery of a new sofa bed for our front room from Ikea. So the rest of the afternoon was spent working out how to put that together.  Frustratingly the covers didn't come with the sofa bed, so they will be with us next week (I have no idea why they've done that!), so in the meantime we've put some throws over it and of course this evening there are two cats enjoying the new place to sleep LOL!

This evening was my new Pilates class. I'm really liking the challenge of these lessons - there were only three of us in the class so it's very individual attention and I'm a bit frustrated that because I'm not familiar with some of the moves I find them difficult. The teacher says I'm doing fine, and I'm sure I'll get there!  I'm tired though LOL!

Questions.....

22. Do you need money to be happy?
Well I obviously need some money to be happy otherwise I won't be able to buy food or the other essentials or have a place to live. At the moment we have enough money to be able to indulge our whims, enjoy our hobbies and keep ourselves fed and our bills paid.  I am content with that.

I don't know if more money would make me happier - we have often speculated what we would do if we won one of those giant windfalls in a lottery or something (but as we never do them it's a bit of a moot point), but we decided that it would have to be a really big windfall to be worth having as obviously we'd probably give quite a bit away to family and then the only other thing I'd love to do is buy some land and build a dream house, and that would take some serious cash in my bit of the UK.....  Would that make me happier than I am at the moment? I don't think so.
