Let's just gloss over everything that's depressing and undemocratic, and also that I had a bit of a melt down this morning over all.the.things. I have picked myself up and dusted myself down and reminded myself that things are OK.
Yesterday we woke up to a smattering of snow which was a bit of a surprise as it wasn't forecast. It didn't last long as it was raining by the time we got up, but it was enough to make the grass white and cover the cars.
I spent some time in the glass studio as I wanted to make some different colours of the hummingbirds and use a different finish on the solder. When you use solder (which is made of lead and tin) to join pieces of glass together it gives a silver coloured join which you can then polish up. Like this:
You can treat the solder with a chemical patina to make it a dark grey colour or a copper colour. I'd bought some copper patina a long time ago and it never really worked very well, but I thought I'd give it another trial and I think it looks really nice with the yellow colourway.
I'm just waiting on some beads to finish off the mobiles and then I should be able to put these up for sale when I reopen my Etsy shop.
The rest of yesterday was spent doing some bellydance mentor work and in the evening we had Pilates which was a bit of a shock after nearly two weeks of no exercise apart from walking. It was nice to stretch though.
Today there was frost, but no more snow thank goodness. I was supposed to be doing the Muscles in Isolation class online this morning, but the technology let me down and seemed like the last straw today, hence my slight melt down. Hey ho. I'm OK now.
I have questions:
6. What is distracting you?
The cats usually distract me from things as they will insist on sitting on me when I'm trying to do stuff. However, it's a nice way to be distracted.
7. What past failure actually proved to be a blessing?
The last two times we moved we ended up in different houses than we'd set out to buy. The first time we were very keen on a house which in hindsight would have been a terrible place to live as it was nowhere near any of the good schools and the boys would have ended up with very poor choices for their education. It all fell through and we found our last house which was a fantastic option and much better suited to our family circumstances. Then this house was not one we had considered, but the one we had been very interested in turned out to have a really bad renovation which put us off (plus the location wasn't very good). We were disappointed, but then we saw the house we've ended up with before it actually went on the market. This was fortunate as we got to meet the owners (who apparently liked us) so we got first choice when it was officially available. So those were both a failure that turned into a win! :)
