Apparently there's a new virulent strain of Covid19 in the South of England which means it's spreading very quickly and now we have to lock down again. This time restaurants and pubs are back to supplying take away food only. Bowling alleys, theatres, cinemas and any events with more than 6 people outside have to stop. The virus certainly affected this answer for so many people. I kind of ignored it and said I like it where I am. LOL I can certainly understand not wanting to be too far from your boys. None of my kids live more than an hour away (two of them much closer) and I would hate to be so far away that we could only see them once a year or so. (Not that we're seeing much of them now - but someday....)

I can't say a city is where I'd like to be anyway - I like being in the suburbs and like you say I don't want to be more than around an hour from my children as I need them to visit me in my old age LOL!

I can see a full national lockdown coming in the new year after the idiots have all had their "nobody's telling me what to do!" Christmas parties. I despair at times of ever getting past this - as you say, put up with obeying the rules for a month and virus can't rampage on. As was actually the case in April this year !!!!!

I totally agree with you - I expect we'll have to lock down about 14 days after Christmas. Some people on the news were saying they'd ordered a 16 pound turkey so they wanted the ability to meet up (a 16 pound turkey is ENORMOUS - how many people are coming to visit!!!). I'm going to meet up with everyone once all this is over and I don't mind that as it WILL be over at some point.

In the big scheme of things locally this isn't making a lot of difference to us, but I do miss being able to plan ahead. It's a shame the art galleries had to shut as they were really managing the numbers and the way to get in really wel. I felt totally safe when we visitedl. I do feel so sorry for small local businesses too :(
