My house smells of oranges and cloves as I'm drying orange slices for decorations. I have a food dehydrator I bought last year in the sales and didn't get around to using until now. The slices have taken all of yesterday, and most of today to dry (they are nearly done) and the smell is...... A-MA-ZING!!!!
I am slowly putting up decorations for Christmas. We start with the cards and I suspend them on a jute string across one wall with paper stars that I tend to make fresh each year as they get squished when I put things away. This year I found some thicker card so they are looking much more substantial and hopefully will survive the packing away process.
I also bought a new wall hanging (again in a sale!), and it looks nice on the wall, so I've painted a few plaster hearts with sort of 'Scandi' designs which I'm quite pleased about. It needs more things, but at the moment the rest of the decorations are still in the loft, so I'll get some more on it as the days go on.
I like decorating slowly - somehow it feels more festive. The tree will be this weekend I think - we bit the bullet and bought an artificial one this year because the real trees are getting so expensive. We have bought a little Christmas tree for the garden which has roots (I've planted it in a big pot), and that will be decorated for the season. The artificial one we have is supposed to be very lifelike as the needles are moulded from actual trees. We checked it when it arrived and it does look good, so it'll just be how it looks once full assembled and fluffed up. We haven't told Youngest Cee as he's doesn't like artificial trees, but we'll see if he notices ;)
This evening we are going over to see friends as we have been invited for home-made curry (yum!!). I need to go and make the Naan bread I promised to take with us in a moment, but there is just time for the next one in the grateful meme: 28: What small thing that happened today are you grateful for? I went to Pilates this morning, and several friends there asked if I was OK as I hadn't been the week before. It's nice to have friends that are concerned for your wellbeing if you don't see them :)
Happy Friday all!
