I've been fighting off the urge to get a new laptop because I know Joe's been itching for one and I tell him he can't until he pays off his current laptop... but now my 5+ year old iBook is being putzy and the video is fritzy. I still love my mac mini and it does fine for everything I do in a basic day, I can work from home when needed on it, but it's not mobile and I can't do any sort of hi-end gaming, the expansion for WoW maxes out it's capacities, and I can't upgrade the video..... so what I'm rationalizing all to hell is, I bought a new laptop. Or should I say, I customized and ordered a new laptop on Dell.com, it won't be here for 2 months (which is good, then I can save up some extra $$ to better rationalize buying it) anyways, here's the specs:
I cut it down to just the important stuff people care about, it was the fastest processessor I could get, best video card, sound and display -- for this size/model. 20/21" screen just isn't worth it to me in a laptop. 17" is probably pushing it, but if I'm going to use it to game on, then I figured bigger is better. As far as hard drive space, I have yet to fill any of my hard drives on any of my laptops, so I didn't see any reason to upgrade beyond 160GB (that was the lowest size option) my only dislike is that I had no other operating option (as in I couldn't get XP) but the world is moving forward and I'd probably have to get vista eventually.
Anyways, I'm pretty psyched so don't go dissing on my choices too much - I can always wait for something bigger/better/price drop... but at some point you just have to buy, new stuff is always obsolete a week later when it comes to computers.
