Memoirs of an assassin... sort of.

So, for the past week or so, I've been involved in a game run by the university Assassin's Guild. For those who haven't heard of the game, it involves being given a list of names and addresses of targets which you should use to track them down and 'kill' them (read: poke with an item of stationery or squirt with a water pistol). I've intended to do AssassinSoc here for the past two years now, but since I know that I will be inherently bad at it (subtlety isn't my strong point, as everyone who's seen me playing any FPS and blindly running around corners firing into the air will know) I've decided to give it a miss, since I'll just get killed straight away for being rubbish at lying low and stalking. Sounds good fun, though.

The massive summer Uni waterfights (everyone armed with Supersoakers and waterballoons, and go around town in teams of 3-4 Rainbow Six style hunting the opposition), where running around really fast yelling and firing is more my style, and positively encouraged. As a side note, only yesterday I began work on the gameplan/rules for a similar event involving our clan and the streets of Kington sometime during the Christmas holidays, like a bastard mix of D&D and Ultimate Force. More details closer to the time =P

It would be a shame to be put off by thinking you're bad at it; it's more about the experience you get playing the game than just winning it. Besides, I was sure that I'd be dead within a couple of days, but still managed a merry old killing spree :D

FPSs do inherently favour running around like a loon gunning everything rather more than a game of subtlety like this, so I'd hesitate to draw any comparisons between the two.

Also, I am intrigued by the idea of this game of yours, and wish to subscribe to your newsletter.
