Sometimes when you try to stop thinking of someone and stop coming into contact with them, they start showing up in your dreams. Combine that with one of those mornings where you wake up slowly and keep going back and forth between dreams and waking, the kind where for several hours you can't tell what really happened yesterday from what was dreamed about, and it starts to seem like it's pointless to try to control one's own mind.

Waking up on those mornings can feel like the comedown from a DMT experience, when reality starts to come back and take over perception, and it seems less believable than the dreams. Not that I expect any readers here to know what that feels like.

But who ever won a battle by giving up? To conquer oneself is better than to conquer thousands of enemies in battle. Even if it takes a person's entire life and they only live a single year having fully accomplished that goal, that one year makes it worth it.
