Does anyone actually know of people who identify as autosexual over asexual*? Who consider the distinction an important one to make? (Asexual people, that is. I'm getting the impression a bunch of sexual people think it's important.)
Because I really, really fucking hate it but keep running across the terminology in various places, and I am confused as to whether there are actually people who embrace it (in which case I shall bite down on my hatred provided you don't even think of applying the term to me) or whether this is one of those bits of terminology due to sexuals floating about that no one actually wants. I don't think I've ever spoken to an ace person who likes the term, but a) it doesn't exactly come up in conversation much and b) I can hardly claim to know every ace person in existence, can I.
ETA: and, I should note, identify that way because they want to and not because "well, I guess I have to because I have a sex drive." I have seen people say this and it makes me angry, k?
ETA^2: post inspired by a comment going "there's a fine line between autosexual and asexual in some cases." Well. No. There isn't. Because there isn't a line at all! Because all autosexual people are also asexual by the usual definition and fucking hell what possible business is it of yours whether someone touches themselves ~down there~ or not and why do you think we need a special piece of terminology JUST to distinguish these folks and incidentally make it sound as if autosexual people aren't ~really~ asexual when asexual visibility groups have been for YEARS AND FUCKING YEARS saying that you can have a sex drive and be asexual and-
...have I mentioned that I really, really hate this terminology?
ETA^3: for everyone squinting at this going "huh?", AFAIK autosexual means asexual who masturbates.
