What's Going On In March 2009

So, what is going on in March 2009 with me?

The first week of the month was marked by ups and downs between hope and disappointment. Really, it's kind of ongoing, but it seemed more intense that week. It was great to get back to ice skating again after healing up from the bruised knees injury. I just went with Mom, and I felt so good out there. My coordination and energy usage has improved drastically since the beginning of the year; I love ice skating now. (I'm excitedly looking forward to going again in two weeks--April 3rd, 7 pm!) Then, Mom and I went to Buffalo Wild Wings, where we walked in just in time to catch the delightful ending of a Thrashers game ("delightful"--meaning that the Thrashers were victorious ^_^). That made me very happy, especially since I almost never get to see them. I need to go to Buffalo Wild Wings more often--their breaded mushrooms are so good! Also, I had some good talks with Presley, Lorie, and Andrea. I'm so blessed to have such excellent girlfriends.

The second week of March consisted of midterms and running around doing a lot of cleaning and grocery shopping. I finally got to see Steph again at Zach's birthday party.

The third week of March was kicked off by spring break, and the long-awaited arrival of my friend Caitlin from Texas! We actually met a year ago on FanFiction.net. She wrote this really amazing epic, going into great detail about the history behind the events in "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time." I was intrigued, so I left reviews on her chapters, and from there... We just kinda became friends. Anyway, we had a good time together. She came on Saturday and left on Wednesday. We slept in the basement. She did my nails and played all the way through "Ocarina of Time." (And I must say I've never seen anyone play through the game so effortlessly!) We also watched movies and went to the mall. While we were at the mall, we looked briefly at formal dresses. I found one on clearance that mildly interested me (cheaper price, right size, appealing design), but I thought the color was a little too dark.

Two days later, I went back with Mom and tried it on. It looked so much better on me than it did on the hanger. The color changed from dark to bright in the light. Mom loved it.

"Do you think I should go to the Formal?" I asked her.

"Yes! Go!" she said. "Every year you'll want to less and less. Go now, while the time is appropriate."

So we bought the dress. So, I guess I'm going to the Formal now. Maybe this year will be different... I sound like a Cubs fan! ;)

And now for the big news: I've decided to officially pursue an Associate of Arts Degree, majoring in Mass Communication (Journalism and News Editorial). What I really want to do is proofread, and this path seems like the best. So now I have a dim shape of a vision, which is a MAJOR BREAKTHROUGH (no pun intended ^_^) after having only a murky mist of nothing! Whoo-hoo. Takes me almost three years in college to figure that out, but... I've finally got SOMETHING! Granted, plans can change, but it's sweet to actually HAVE A PROTOTYPE PLAN!!!

So, my plan is to keep being involved in InterVarsity, which should be for a while, since I want to take school nice and easy. And if I thought my days of doing math with Dad were over, I guess I've got it coming now. Looks like it's back to math with Dad, so I can get some serious remedial tutoring. I'm not looking forward to it, though. I have a long-standing psychological aversion to puzzles; the thought of doing mental puzzles makes me cringe. And then when Dad is involved... It's not like he's a bad teacher; he's actually very good. But he totally loves all this puzzle-y stuff, and I totally don't get it, and so there's this weird kind of strain... (If you were homeschooled, you might understand what I'm talking about.)

Well, we'll work it out eventually. No rush. Anyway, this has been a coverage of Rachel's events of March so far. Other than the sad fact that the Blackhawks have been losing a lot (which I would rather not like to dwell on), I can't think of much else to report. I feel bad for not updating my LJ more often. Facebook has taken over my Internet time.

Ciao for now, my readers. Hopefully, anything important I've left out here will make it into the next report.
