Tim has made me realise that The Decemberist should totally tour on a large cart, much like a parade float, while playing music through towns. I think this would be a great thing, and they would be going slow enough that people could follow for a few songs and be happier during that day for it. They could have people working through the crowds too with hats or boxes to collect donations and the usual parade folk could be dressed up and selling shirts and such. It would be a pleasant afternoon for all the kids.
