Pieces of Me Falling - Drabbles #1

Jul 30, 2004 14:14

I have been writing a lot lately. Problem is, it's all been chapter summaries, journals, essays, end of chapter questions. I miss my fiction.

I haven't written a drabble in awhile, and probably never done the 100-word type that floats around my LJ fandom favorites. I'm more than inspired by those recently put together by jedi_penguin, and remembering how elementalv put some together for a story she was a little stuck on, I thought I would give it a try. Would *love* some feedback if anyone has time and thoughts...

Buffy - The Preparation
He wasn’t mad that she was going to be late. It surprised her how relieved she was. He’d been mad at her enough times before for being too lax on her deadlines. She could admit it bothered her. She stuck to a calling more serious than anything most others did, yet he gave her the hairy eyeball if she wanted to skip a day of training to have dinner with Riley.

Quit thinking about that stuff. She wanted all the distance and guilt between them to go away. Everything had to be right, and she would start with the food.

Giles - The Daze
Sometimes in the daze that occurred afterwards, once the pain had taken and drained him, he thought he could see her face. It was always the same moment, when she had shown up on his doorstep, back home after hiding in Los Angeles. All the grief of that summer, the fruitless searches, the useless hand, the accusations of a bitter parent, the months when he didn’t know, had melted away.

And when he remembered now, how she smiled shyly up at him, silently asking his acceptance, he could again let all the badness leave him completely, even if it wouldn’t last.

Buffy - That Night When it was over, it was so different than how she thought it would be. Who was she kidding; there hadn’t been time to really imagine how it might be. When had she ever thought she would… make love to Giles? Even though she’d been more… aware… of him lately, even though she felt that inexplicable need to be near him… she didn’t ever really consider that this would be an outcome.

But it was, and she was glad. They still lay together, and she watched his warm fingers stroke her arm, her breast, her hip. She was so glad.

Giles - The Morning After
She still slept. Of course he had seen her sleep a thousand times before, but now she was a different creature to him, one who had fully opened herself (as much as people like them were capable) and offered herself and accepted him.

Loving her… it had been the most confounding aspect of a life filled with more pandemonium and less certainty than he could begin to recollect at times. Now as he watched her, naked and soft and peaceful next to him in early sunlight, he was even more filled with that love, and more overcome by that confusion.
