I was just looking at a picture of a friend's new baby. I remember how Kaity fit so perfectly into the "nuzzle" position when she was born. I felt so guilty that I wasn't experiencing the closeness with her that I had with Miranda. But whenever I held her, she curled into my neck and shoulder as if we were made for each other. And of course, we are.
At 7 months old, Kaity is becoming her own person... and I am finally getting to know who that is. She seems to prefer staying up later than Miranda by several hours most nights or staying up during Miranda's naps; I think this is so she can have me and/or Rod to herself. And I am glad.
She has recently hit several big milestones: first sitting up, then holding her own bottle, then crawling. Yes, crawling. Actually, her timeline for this is the same as Miranda's to the week. Incidentally, that was the same week I found out I was pregnant with Kaity. I don't think that timing is going to be the same this time around... Also, she is babbling. Her favorite word is "ba-ba-ba-ba." Big surprise there.
Her personality is pretty funny. She is mostly just happy. She loves, loves, loves to play. She will already sit and play with toys for about 30 minutes on her own. When toys are not there, books, magazines, Miranda's leftover cereal (oops!), leaves... anything will do. She also likes to stand up. She can do this leaning and hands free, or with one hand. She just smiles like she has a secret. I think the secret is... she is going to grow up faster than we could have imagined. I am having a hard time with that right now, but I adore her sweetness, her curiosity, and the fact that once or twice day, my little miracle still lets me nuzzle her.
"I know you, I walked with you once upon a dream..."
Paige started singing this song to her, and now it calms her down when she cries. It fits her :)

Meeting "Auntie" Sonya Isaacs at NQC
"Randa, we should hang out like this more often." (on the bus during NQC trip)
This was the last night at NQC. I was with Rod and Kaity as he loaded equipment on one side of the bus. She was awake. When I wheeled her over to the side with the door, she had zonked.
However, the next morning, she was ready to drive us home.
If I had one wish for Kaykay, it would be that she always has this smile in her eyes.
