i haven't updated in awhile. friday and saturday were so packed and amazing i have to write about it.
friday i went to school and then xc practice as usual. a couple hours later met up with alex joe mike matt bj and evan, who were all not completely sober except alex who was driving. we drove around for awhile being crazy and then alex dropped them off at the football game that we didn't want to go to. we switched into my car and went on a sweet adventure as usual and drove fast and listened to good music. we went all around up through kenmore bothell and random crazy areas and got lost which was fun, especially since i almost ran out of gas. went home awhile after 11 and tried to get some sleep for the kelso invite saturday, but i didn't end up sleeping til 12:30. a great night and start to the weekend.
saturday i woke up at 5:30 to go to the kelso invite. slept most of the 3 hour bus ride there, good thing i brought my pillow and the best blanket ever. we walked over the course, which was weird because it was only 2.3 miles for some reason. during the race the course was really boring but i was doing well and was just speeding up for the last half mile or so when i get to the bottom of a hill and my heart starts hurting. so at first i just figured it would go away and keept speeding up and the faster i went the more it hurt and i was having trouble breathing. so i get onto the track for the last 300 meters of the race and it feels like a heart attack, and i can't breath or see straight. so i have to slow down which sucked, but i finished up the race. at the finish it hurt so bad i couldn't breathe at all and was hyperventilating and falling over and i couldn't feel my limbs. so elaine went and got coach who found a doctor. he was checking my pulse and he tells coach "well, i'm fairly sure she's not having a heart attack because she's young." which just scared me more because FAIRLY sure is NOT sure. they kept trying to get me to slow my breathing and i finally did after about 15 or 20 minutes. eventually it stopped hurting but for the rest of the invite i was really achey and weak. the doctor said it was a chest wall muscle spasm, which means the muscles around the heart contract and it feels like a heart attack but luckily its not usually life threatening. scary. but i lived! and on the bright side, even with that crazy pain and slowing down and losing placing :( i still finished up the race and managed to get 9th place, so i got a ribbon for placing top 10 which was pretty sweet. and good thing it was a short course or else i might have died or something.
the team did well overall, jv and varsity girls and varsity boys placed 2nd to kelso and doug won, tying the course record.
so after we got home i showered and met up with elaine laurie and janelle at kelsey's house to go to the ben kweller concert! we got there and parked 5 or so blocks away, and kelsey and elaine had paper tickets so they went in and me laurie and janelle were waiting in the will call line. the computer was down, so they couldn't get names out of it to let us in. so we sprinted the whole way back to the car and got the printed receipt and sprinted back to the show. we saw crazy people and it was really fun. the concert itself once it started was so amazing i can't even describe it. he played some songs from his newest album which were all really good, and played all of my favorites from the sha sha and on my way. it was perfect, he interacted with the crowd and overall was really fun and out there and it was a great show. i also really liked the showbox, it's a really cool intimate place. also me laurie and janelle got the last 3 t-shirts they had, so it was awesome. the rest of the night was interesting but was nothing compared to the concert so i'm not going to talk about it.
so now i'm doing this and homework and cleaning my room. and later today will be hanging out with alex and joe as usual. so overall just an amazing weekend even with the whole heart thing. i loved it and am loving life.
