Something that I have missed greatly and have not seen in quantities comparable to your pictures since last season, I think.
We almost completely missed proper winter weather this season. The sustaining temp in January and February has wavered between +5 and -5 Celcius, with December and March not much better (colder), when "real" winter should be somewhere between -10 and -25. February is actually (usually) our coldest month and it is not uncommon for temperature to drop to 30 degrees and below, even if only for a few days.
I did manage to get my winter coat out of the closet to replace the spring coat - (in December or early January? I can't remember anymore). But I only got to wear it for about a week before admitting defeat and putting it back into the closet; I always got way too hot wearing it and just added layers to my spring coat for in-transit.
Even snowfalls, period, have been relatively rare this season - the little that did come down either melted and gave us muddy and/or wet contitions, or was turned to ice by the constantly fluctuating temperature (+5 one day, -5 the next).
It has been kinda depressing.
... We can't even hope for a nice summer to balance it out because that has been down the crapper for many years now. Our summer months and actual summer days very rarely match up [based on the experience of past ~7 years] and getting a full month of cumulative summer days is a lucky experience - not to even mention how rare it is to get a full month of **consequtive** summer days.

Getting of my soapbox now. I haven't heard about nor paid direct attention very much to the weather in the States this winter season but I do remember something about some parts of the country getting unexpected amounts of snow. It was probably some of what we missed out on. .. I wonder if it had decided to go on a vacation (travelling)? :P
