"Damn it!" Gibbs huffed out in frustration as he scrubbed his hand over his face. "Tell me you got something, DiNozzo!"
"Just this weird cube that started glowing when I touched it," Tony said as spun around to face Gibbs with the cube in front of him.
The glow sent alarms bells through Gibbs' mind. "They said not to touch anything, DiNozzo," he growled as he stalked over to remove the glowing object from Tony's hand.
However, when his fingers connected with the item just beside Tony's he felt a shockwave pass through his body.
"What the-"
"Hell," he finished Tony's sentiment. Then they both looked at each other in astonishment.
Boss? Tony questioned with wide eyes.
DiNozzo, Gibbs mentally grunted back with a quirk of an eyebrow.
Maybe we should put the glowing thing down.
You think, DiNozzo. Then Gibbs focused and gave Tony the mental equivalent of a head slap.
Sorry, Boss, Tony said with a wince. Then they gently sat the offending object on the table Tony had picked it up from. However, it continued to glow.
You hear me, Gibbs? Tony all but shouted through their connection.
Gibbs just nodded and glared at the glowing box.
"There you two are!" came the shrill voice of their so-called guide. "You weren't supposed to go into these areas. They are still uncatalogued and we can't risk any accidental-"
The guide's voice cut off when he saw the glowing box. He looked between the two NCIS agents and asked in a pointed voice that contained a hint of excitement, "Which of you touched it?"
"Both," they answered together. "And now-- We hear each-- Other's thoughts," they tagged teamed and finished with Gibbs glaring at Tony while Tony responded with a lopsided grin.
The guide shot off muttering about tests with the chair and contacting certain people that the men just couldn't follow.
Think we're stuck with this, Gibbs? Tony asked and Gibbs could actually feel the trepidation in his thoughts.
"Not sure," Gibbs answered out loud. But we'll work it out, Tony, Gibbs concluded as he sent what he hoped was a wave of reassurance to Tony through the connection.
It must have worked, because Gibbs got slammed with a wave of contentment from Tony that was tinged with bubbling excitement.
Think about the possibilities...
Gibbs just delivered another mental head slap and at Tony's yelp he added, Saves my hand the hurt, DiNozzo.

Yay! And it was two-for-one. Tony demanded the ATA gene too!
And as time progresses, there link will pass more and more between them. Tony definitely won't be able to hide his reactions to Gibbs. Of course that means Gibbs can't hide his from Tony too!
And I think in this verse, Atlantis got itself two agents afloat by default :)
