Make it a Blockbuster Night

Feb 10, 2004 16:41

I'm watching a movie a night. They carry "Suicide Club" and "Ichi the Killer", both which Keith suggested, but I only picked up the former for now. I'll watch it tonight. I also want to see "Anonymously Yours". These kind of documentary films interest me a long as they don’t take the “All [insert gender, ethnic group, or religion] preachy tone.

Conversation Sunday night after watching 'Ichii the Killer':

Vince: What?! What?! Dammit, that's the worst movie I've ever seen! I hate the Japanese!
Cesie: Uuuuugh, never again...
Me: Hey, I didn't promise it would be a good movie, I said it was a crazy movie. And in that it delivered you have to admit.
Vince: *grumbles*

Oddly enough, that night it was a throw up between Ichii and Suicide Club. We didn't get around to seeing anything after Ichii (besides old episodes of South Park) so I have yet to watch SC.

I think Keith used much the same words, that it was a crazy movie and not necessarily a good movie. We shall see! Afterwards I may also be saying "wtf^^?"

Hi, I hope you don't mind that I'm posting out of the blue. Just wanted to recommend a couple of movies, if you're interested. If not, sorry for spamming. Maybe you've already seen these before, even?

If you want to try something funny, "Minbo" is a farce about a hotel that refuses to pay off the yakuza; there's plenty of physical comedy. You might also check out "Go!", a movie that tells the story of a teen whose family is from Korea, but who only knows the Japanese language and culture. It's rather thought-provoking on the issue of nationality and identity.

I don't mind at all. I'm interested; in fact, I go on foreign film kicks every now and then. I'll check if BB has them when I return my current stack. Yay! Thanks for the recommendations.

I saw 'City of God' recently - and can't recommend it highly enough - best film I've seen in years.

Oh, and I thought 'Go!' was great as well :)
