I had a busy day planned and did not plan to go on a ride to day, but I got out of karate class at 12:30 and the beautiful day encouraged me to blow off my chores for one more day. So I called Kelly and she was game for a quick ride before I had to go to my nephews first T Ball game (whole other story there, it was SOOOoooo cute)We decied to check out a little trail that went up past the creek we usually ride. We got to the top and it was full of farmers fields that had just been plowed (so no more riding up there until the fall I guess) but we were up there and nothing was actually planted yet, so we stuck REAL close to the edge, just to see where it would go. Well, wouldn't you know it, my darn horse LAID DOWN AND TRIED TO ROLL in the freshly turned dirt! I have had this horse for almost 10 years and he has never done that escept for one time when I first took him to the river, when I first got him. I was so shocked! Almost trapped my leg beneath him, I could barely react! I got him up before he preformed a complete roll, but he got a good face rub in the dirt. I know it was a tough hill we climbed, but nothing he hasn't done before. It was the funniest thing. Completely took me by surprise, that is for sure.
We got back later than I planned, so I had to quickly bathe him and run to he game. I wish I could have put him back out for a good (appropriate) roll, but they were getting ready to bring every one else in. I guess I could have, he would have went in one gate and right out the other, but that seemed somewhat pointless..
Those T-ball kids were so darn cute. They were all clueless, it was hysterical. My nephew would hit the ball then stand there staring at it admiring his beautiful hit. We'd all be yelling RUN, RUN! Then he'd realize what happened, and take off. He's used to being a spectator of baseball! He LOVES the Mets. Good kid, we trained him right. All in all, they were pretty good, and the coaches were great. Very encouraging with the kids and really building them up. After the game we got pizza and went to their house. I brought the dogs, and the kids had a ball running around with them. So did the dogs. All will sleep well tonight, including me (should be there already!)
Dad's the first base coach... (my bro and nephew)
Kelly took all the blankets to the laundrymat and scored on two big load machines, Six blankets cleaned for $10... beat that! So now the yard is decorated with colorful horsie blankets blowing dry on the line.
So all in all, good day. Now I have to get up and get the chores done I didn't do today. Mainly laundry and cutting the lawn, blah! Supposed to go for another trail ride tomorrow, so need to get a good early start. Hope I can handle all this excitement :D Neighbor wanted me to go see his band pay, but they don't start until 11:00... have a feeling I will be asleep already at that point.
