Fun in the Ring
It was a nice night. The rain held off all day. I got to the barn about 6:30 and tacked up for the ring. Kelly got there just after me, so we both started warming up. One of the crazy arms girls was in there. She didn't seem quite so out there today, but Marsha and Robin had plenty comments about her and her friend. Apparently one girl was lungeing her horse on a 10m circle and he was three legged lame. Marsha was clearly upset over the treatment of this horse. (Those girls have been there a while and I have no idea what there names are!) Then Jara showed up and there was three. Three people in the outdoor is much better than in the ring. There is so much more space, yo don't feel like you ae going to get in eachothers way.
We set up some gymnastics in the center of the ring. The last rail was set up as a cavaletti. I had them a little too close at first, but once Jara had me correct the distance (using this stuff is all new to me) it really helped Taco stretch out his otherwise choppy trot. He was so damn cute. We kept raising the last cavaletti, so eventually the horses were jumping rather than trotting over the pole. (They could have trotted then, except at the end, but they chose to jump them, so we let them) Taco was so cute. I wish I could actually see him do it. I was in a western saddle, so this was not the most comfortable thing to do.
Jara told me I can borrow her all purpose english, so I want to try again using that. Might be more comfortable for both of us. (I wasn't planning on jumping over stuff last night.. it just sort of happened. Just as we were getting into it, however, serious lightening and thunder rolled in, so we had to quickly clean up and get inside. This was probably a good thing, because when I got inthe car it was 9:00!
Today I have to get some yard work done before heading over, but I definitely want to go. I also have to stop at walmart. I bought all this stuff, and I think they didn't give me a bag, because I am missing my new sunscreen and the antifungal spray I bought for taco (I don't think he ha a major issue, but I like to hit him with it every oncvce in a while to be sure, especially now that he is with so many horses.) I should check first that they actually charged me for it. I also have to remember to worm Taco as well as the dogs this month... 15th... MENTAL NOTE!
