screw you guys..I'm going home.
so it's been a long time since I last posted but yet not a lot has happened in my life. I get the feeling this is because I have no life. I wake up, go to class, study, study, study, go to bed for a few hours if I'm lucky. If this semester's goal was to kick my ass it's working. But crazily enough I'm getting through it with good grades. I don't know how that works.
So right now it's raining. I mean pouring down rain. this means that the sidewalks around my apartment complex will be flooded tomorrow and you won't be able to walk without getting your feet really wet. I'll just wear flip flops if the temperature is as nice as it was today. I've had a headache for most of today and all of yesterday. I attribute this to the fact that I got 3 hours of sleep on tuesday night because I was up really late working on a presentation for my seminar. Everyone in the class has to present a topic about man and nature in conflict and I chose the avian flu. My presentation went really well and I had a lot of questions afterward. I answered them all happily but it made me feel that I hadn't put enough info in the presentation. But 20 minutes is not enough time to even touch on the surface of the flu and what it can do. I could have talked forever about the 1918 flu but I only gave it a short mention. I'm just glad it's over and now it's Thursday which means tomorrow is Friday which means tonight is the first night since last Saturday that I won't be up late studying or doing homework. you have no idea how much I love thursdays because of this.
last saturday I woke up early and went with Jocelyn to this Women in the Outdoors thing. I learned how to fish, take fun wildlife pictures and shoot a bow and arrow. I was dreading going but I actually had a lot of fun.
I think it was the weekend before last that Derek was out of town. He left on Thursday to go interview in Washington D.C. for the navy. It's the last step in the process and every person has two technical interviews and a personal interview with the admiral who runs the whole submarine division of the navy. so to cut to the chase, Derek got in. He has signed on the dotted line, received his signing bonus, and basically sold his soul to the navy. no, I'm really happy for him actually. he's really really excited about the whole thing and it's great to see him so pumped. He goes to officer candidate school (boot camp for officers) in Florida at the end of July where he'll be for 13 weeks or something. Then he'll spend a year at power school in Virginia or some place like that. then he gets to choose from all the naval bases with submarines where he wants to be stationed out of. so hopefully if all goes well you can come visit me in Hawaii in 2 or 3 years. I think the whole Hawaii thing won single-handedly me over...well..and the money. he's gonna be making a lot of money.but that's not the point. the point is Hawaii. and even if not Hawaii, the other choices include California, Florida, Georgia, Virginia, Guam (haha...chris lived in Guam), and a few other really cool places. so yay for Derek and yay for me for dating a guy with a great future. yay!
so more about Derek..I didn't buy him anything for Valentines day (except for some chocolate tony stewart nascars packaged in a heart) because I was busy and he's hard to shop for, and I'm a horrible person. so now that he's gotten into the navy I want to buy him something nice for that. AND we're approaching our 5 year anniversary and I want to buy him something for that. god...not to mention he's graduating in a few months. so I need a nice gift that says "congrats on getting into the navy, I'm jealous that you're done with school but I love you anyways." but I'm drawing a complete blank. any ideas?
well, that's all I can think of that's new and exciting in my ife. I think my first coat of toenail polish is dry nwo so I'm gonna go put on a second coat and get ready to go to the grocery store. that's right..I'm so lame that I'm looking forward to a trip to HEB. I haven't done a big grocery run in a really really really long time. any requests while I'm there?
