What better way to make a first post, than with Rain??
So, the Rain concert was pretty awesome, although Caitlin and my seats were a little further from the stage than I thought they would be. Heaven forbid that the 'A' section should be by the stage and not on the other side of the hall... so Rain looked like a little (sexy) dancing ant, but thank goodness for the TV screens that way we were able to see everything. I was glad enough to get tickets, because they sell out really fast. There are many people who go to every tour date... which in my opinion isn't really fair because not all of us can afford to go twice let alone once. Leave some seats for those of us who can only go once, please!
Getting out of Harajuku station was hell in and orf itself. There was no way I could climb the stairs out because there were too many people. A) it was Sunday and B) there was a concert going on. I think it took nearly 5 minutes to get out of the small station. Well, at least I arrived early. Finding the concert hall turned out to be easier than I had bargained for.. it's big and ugly and fairly hard to miss. There were small food booths outside too, which were good for me because I didn't manage to eat in my rush to get ready to leave.
The merchandise was surprisingly expensive (well, the only other Japanese concert that I have been to was Tohoshinki, and their merchandise was about half the price of Rain's). There were these funny ninja bear shirts and things for his new "Ninja Assassin" movie... I can't imagine Rain as a teddy bear though >.< As with the Tohoshinki concert, most of the audience were women in their 30's-50's. I guess they have the most disposable income (and by that I mean the bacon their husbands bring home) and time to go. There were very few white people (no surprise) and very few men either (again, not a surprise. There was a fanboy behind us though... who Caitlin kept saying was Rain's boyfriend. Teehee). I feel bad for the men that were there, because all of the men's toilets were temporarily women's toilets. I hope they didn't have to pee anytime soon because they were in for a long wait...
I feel kind of disappointed that he didn't perform more Japanese songs. We are in Japan, after all. I also wish he had performed his new single, "Love Song." Or at least some more up-beat songs. There were a lot of his slow jams, which are hard to get excited about. The dance moves were classic Rain... all hip thrusts, and butt shakes, which were enough to make me feel embarrassed. Too bad he has no butt to shake really. Asian boys, and their unfortunately flat butts (except Junsu of course). It also would have been nice if his protegees, MBLAQ had opened for him. Guess I got my hopes up too high on that one.
There were many cute moments when he was fixing his hair and looking all innocent... although kind of vain. We all know you love yourself, Rain. Some of the fans in the front were lucky enough (I guess) to have touched him. He must be smelly though with all that sweat. Lol. One girl got his ripped tank top, and probably received a black eye in the process. I would have loved to see her in the aftermath. Some of the other people in the front got some of his concert towels. Towels don't fly very far when you throw them though.
I think if he had stripped more, that some of the fans would have had heart attacks, and that would have been bad. He should have stripped more for us younger fans though. Lol.
When it came to be time for the encore, the fans were really weak. Most were just clapping, so I'm surprised that he actually came back out. He finally performed the only Japanese number "Sad Tango," which happens to be in my top 5 favorites of his songs. The last song wasn't his, but some crazy techno/trance song where they just danced on the stage and made me feel like I should have taken some extacy in order to enjoy what was going on. He was definitely on something. Lol. I think the lyrics of the trance number were something like "I like my sex..." I dunno. It was weird.
Overall it was worth the arm and leg that Caitlin and I paid in order to see him. He did play most of my favorite songs.
Still debating whether or not I'm going to try and buy tickets for Junsu, JaeJoong, and Yoochun's upcoming event. I'm not sure I can afford it >.
