Today was the day before the last day of school. I knew it was going to be one of those days. Not only am I ready for break, the kids are even more ready for the break! They finished constructing their bridges (we do toothpick bridges with them) and then they all helped pack 5th grade books, pass out papers, and take things off the wall. But they were also OFF the WALL themselves. They are excited and many are agitated with their routine being disrupted. There are some that are emotional about the end of the year (and many are going to a new school next year) and they don't know how to deal with those emotions, so they act out. I'm not emotional about the end of the year (for once! Mostly because I will have most of my kids next year) but these kids really drained me. Besides the above we also had our school talent show and our 5th grade luncheon.
I'm also trying to get report cards and student files finished, as well as other end of the year check-out things complete. On top of all this I am currently in the final week of a 3 week graduate class that I decided to squeeze in. Obviously this class is intense with a whole semester's worth of work in 3 weeks. Assignments due daily and I'm trying to keep up. So far I have nearly all points possible, but I still have several assignments to complete and a quiz to take. And all I want to do is take a nap!
