My Google reader is loaded with over 30 blogs. Many of them are crafty blogs, but I've had a recent surge of adding vegan blogs. In particular I am LOVING
Vegan Dad. This lovely gentleman posts the daily meals he serves his family, and usually includes a recipe. They always look exactly like something I'd prepare and eat. Some of the other vegan blogs I read have lovely foods, but they just don't seem to be for me. I was introduced to the
Ultimate Uncheese Cookbook through his blog. I made the
vegan quiche last week and tonight I made the All American Grilled Cheez. The recipe calls for an odd assortment of items to blend together including tahini, oats, roasted red pepper, and cashews. The texture is very creamy (similar enough to melty cheese) and the taste is satisfying. It had a bit too much onion flavor, which could be adjusted the next time.
I enjoyed my toasty sammy with a fresh side salad. I had contemplated making the cheesy soup from the same cookbook, or even a tomato soup, but considering that today was like 110 degrees and the apartment wasn't much cooler it was out of the question.
