A couple of weeks

First week of unemployment was fairly productive. I did a few things around the house that I have been neglecting and applied to 3 jobs. Steve and I decided that I would only try for permanent positions, and only apply to jobs that I really want. However, in order to maintain unemployment benefits from the state, I have to apply to 3 jobs a week. This week was harder. There are jobs out there, but they are contract jobs. SInce I have only been unemployed two weeks, I don't want to apply to any of those yet. I hope this week goes better. Or I hear back from one of the jobs I applied to.
Last night Steve and I went to see Big Trouble in Little China at one of the Seattle movie theaters that shows a lot of old and cult movies. It was pretty packed and since they serve alcohol at the theater, people were laughing their asses off at any little thing. It wasn't as bad as going to a midnight movie in La Jolla, but people were acting pretty silly. This same theater is going to be showing the infamous movie The Room. I have already seen it, but we might have to go and see it in the theater. They are also having an 80's movie theme song sing along next week. Think "Footloose", "Good Enough", songs like that. I think I am definitely going to that. Anyway, after the movie we went to a bar called, The Hideout. It is a cool place with a lot of cool art. One of the pictures was sort of a picture within a picture, and we were all trying to figure out what it was of for most of the night. Previous picture by the same artist was a Burt Reynolds and Ernie, and Raggedy Ann and Andy Warhol. The latest one could have been of Prince, Jesus, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, or Shirley Temple. Those were some of the guesses we had.
We also went to the TMBG "Flood" show this week. Unfortunately we had to wait in a long line before the show, in the rain, with no umbrella. It was cold too. I haven't been feeling sick and neither has Steve, so I guess discomfort is all that we got out of that. The show was really fun, except the band did seem a little tired and even though I am of average height-I had a hard time seeing in the standing room only venue. Unfortunately going to TMBG meant we had to forgo the Pinback show. I also missed the Pixies, which I do regret-but it is probably better for our wallets anyway.
I caught up with my old boss this week too. She has been going through some hard times, but it was nice to catch up. I have a few more people I would like to do that with. I definitely am not very good at that stuff.
