Summary: Reita has a bad premonition before a live, but no one believes him. Will his premonition come true?

It was about ten minutes before a live and everyone was getting pumped to go out there and perform. Tension was in the air, but not the bad kind. The kind that was coupled with nervousness and excitement for what this live was going to be like. How the fans would be and what they would have to do to please them completely and make them glad they had come out to see them this night. They were all fired up and planning certain aspects of their own performance onstage to make those fans with a favorite member happy to watch them.

Kai was nervously tapping his feet with his arms crossed over his chest, just standing there watching the stage with excitement thrumming just beneath his skin. To his right stood Aoi who wasn't sure what to do with his gaze. Half of him was drawn to the stage and half to the other direction where the other band mates were. Ruki was gargling some medicine to make sure his voice was in tip-top shape for the live. Uruha was leaning against one of the backstage walls, mentally preparing himself for what was about to happen. And Reita was currently fretting over what seemed like nothing at this point in time.

"Guys I really think something is going to go wrong." He spoke up, only gaining the attention of Ruki who had just spit his medicine back into the little plastic cup.

"Why say that?" He questioned, walking over to throw the dirtied cup away, his body being followed by Reita's gaze the entire time.

The bassist took a deep breath and then shrugged. His body was shaking with nervousness, something that was off from normal routine. "I don't know. I just have this feeling something is going to go wrong." He replied, feeling a bit stupid now that he was forced to explain himself.

Kai and Aoi were oblivious to the conversation, their excitement visible by just how fixated their gazes now were to the stage. Only five minutes left.

"Oh, so you can predict the future now, hmm?" Uruha teased with a laugh, finally coming out of his mental trance to look over at his long-time best friend who merely scowled at him. "Ah, don't be offended. I was just joking. Besides, what could go wrong? Everyone is fine and the crew double-checked everything hours ago. Don't worry so much Reita." It was only normal for him to try and get Reita to understand the logic of everything being okay.

Seeing as he was no longer being talked to, Ruki shrugged lightly and went over to join the rhythm guitarist and the drummer to watch the stage with elevated interest that grew even more with each passing second. They would be performing on there soon.

With a loud sigh, Reita just gave up on trying to convince anyone of his somewhat premonition. Maybe he was just being paranoid as Uruha had hinted at, though he still couldn't help feeling that something was amiss and was going to go terribly wrong.

Only two minutes to go and everyone could hear the cheering of their fans increasing in volume. It pumped them all full of energy, so Reita made his way to Kai's side to give him a quick kiss on the cheek that he hoped no staff would notice. The rest of the band knew about them, but the staff did not. "Good luck out there." He grinned, finally managing to get his lover's attention as Kai turned to give him a peck on the lips softly. "You too."

Time was up and they were soon being shooed onstage by the staff. Kai first, then Reita, followed by both Aoi and Uruha, and finally Ruki until all five of them were on stage together as always.

--------------------------------------------

The live went as planned for near to the first half, but close to the song in the middle of their set Kai began feeling as though something was off with his seat. If he would move in a certain way it would wobble a bit and then if he moved in another it would almost make him fall over onto his drums. It bothered him quite a bit, but he couldn't really do anything as long as he had to focus on his playing, so with a shrug he turned his attention back to his drum set just as the song had began.

During the song Uruha grinned over at Reita as if to say he told him so that everything was going to be alright. Reita merely rolled his eyes in response and mouthed that the live wasn't over yet. It made Uruha laugh a bit, but Aoi gave them both an odd look as he didn't know what was going on between them.

It made Kai laugh to see them acting in such a way, but that laugh was quickly corrected as he evidently moved in the wrong direction and was sent falling backwards, his hands automatically dropping from his drumsticks to grapple for any part of his drums that he could use to hold himself up. But it was useless as he felt his back connect with something first and then his head, followed by complete blackness.

Reita was the first to look back at the drum set after about ten seconds of no drums to accompany their playing. Then Aoi and Uruha and finally Ruki, though all of them continued doing as they were. They all thought this was like the NLSG tour mishap when Kai fell off his seat and quickly got back up, but after about thirty seconds of seeing no Kai they all started to worry.

Even though they were told to continue playing if something happened, Reita couldn't do that with it involving his lover, so he threw off his bass strap and set the bass aside, trying to ignore Uruha's reprimands of his actions.

He climbed up the little slope and was horrified at the sight he was presented with. Kai was just lying there, unmoving, and it scared him beyond belief. By now the other three had quit playing and the crowd had gotten somewhat silent due to wanting to know what was going on.

"Kai?" Reita asked softly, walking over and bending down beside the drummer's body, out of sight of the audience as well as the band, making the three of them worry into coming up there even as stage help was doing the same. The bassist gathered Kai into his arms and tried shaking him awake, but to no avail. What had happened?

If this had been any other situation Reita might have said to Uruha and Ruki he told them so, but since this dealt with his boyfriend, that was the farthest thing from his mind. "Kai?" He tried again, a little louder this time, but the stage help just told him to get him off the stage first and for them all to head back to the dressing room where they could lay Kai down. Obediently, Reita picked Kai up bridal style--surprised at how light Kai really was--and turned to left the stage, ignoring the worried words of their fans coming from the audience. His gaze and attention was completely trained on his lover's placid face.

Uruha, Aoi, and Ruki, followed Reita back to the dressing room--Aoi and Uruha already having shed their instruments--and watched as the bassist carefully laid their bandleader on the couch, his gaze full of absolute loving concern. None of them said a thing and rather just watched their fretting band mate.

Reita knelt beside the couch and tenderly wiped the sweat and hair from Kai's forehead before he pressed a gentle kiss there, as if that might soothe his lover at all if he was in any pain whatsoever. It didn't seem to register to him that Kai was unconscious.

Soon after, one of the staff came in to check on him and Reita was surprised when he lifted up Kai's head and felt the back of it. "He just took a fall. Faulty chair. We guess he hit his head on an amp behind him and got knocked out." They explained after a moment, looking at their fingers and inspecting them for blood. When they didn't see any they just laid Kai's head back down. "If he wakes up within the next hour and is okay then no hospital visit, but if he wakes up more than an hour from now, or if he wakes up with problems or complications, we'll take him to the hospital." With that they left the rest of the band mates to sit around and wait things out.

Reita moved to seat himself beside Kai, taking one of his sweaty hands within his own and glaring over at the other three. Now that everything was likely to be alright, he was reminded of his premonition. "I told you something was going to go wrong." He muttered bitterly, stroking Kai's hand absently and a bit nervously.

"Hey, how were we supposed to know Kai was going whack his head on something?" Uruha replied haughtily, using a towel to wipe away the sweat from his forehead. "I mean, it wasn't like we knew he had a faulty chair or anything."

"Still, you should have listened to me! Then maybe Kai wouldn't have had to get hurt to prove my words right." Reita insisted, looking down at his lover as he spoke and then back up at Ruki and Uruha. He knew Aoi hadn't heard him talk about this before the live. Then with delicate strokes he petted his lover's forehead and cheeks affectionately, as if trying to wake him.

Aoi looked quite confused as to what was being said, so he turned to Uruha and asked, the taller guitarist just sighing and motioning him out of the room so he could explain. Ruki just shrugged his shoulders and walked over to begin getting his make-up off. No way were they going back onstage tonight, he was sure.

The bassist refused to leave Kai's side, though. It was like he was trying to protect him by sitting this close and carefully monitoring him for any sort of sign that he was going to wake up. His hands were never still for more than five seconds, either touching Kai's face or petting his hair delicately, trying not to upset any bruising he was pretty sure was going to form on the back of his lover's precious head.

"I should have said something to you about my premonition. I know you would have listened at least." Reita muttered to Kai, casting a sidelong look at Aoi and Uruha as they re-entered the room and went to follow Ruki's example.

--------------------------------------------

Kai wasn't sure when he finally started to wake up for so many things were assaulting his aching head at once. "So much noise." He groaned out, gaining the attention of Reita--who was still sitting beside him--at once. The bandleader sat up a moment later, clutching to his head with both hands as a not-so-dull ache had started throbbing at the noise, and even more at the light he was squinting against.

"Kai you're okay!" Reita's voice was unsurprisingly loud and it startled the drummer who clutched to his head even tighter in agony.

Another groan passed the drummer's lips. "Rei quiet...my head's killing me." He said in a soft, yet firm voice, making Reita confused for a moment before nodding. "Ah, does anyone have any painkillers?"

One of the staff seemed to appear out of nowhere with a couple of them as well as a bottle of water, handing both to Kai and letting him take them before any questioning began. "Are you alright?" They asked, trying to inspect the back of Kai's head now that he was sitting up, but the bandleader wasn't having any of that. With a hiss of discomfort, he pulled away and slapped their hand from reaching towards him.

"I'm fine enough." He replied through gritted teeth. "What exactly happened? I know my chair fell, but did I hit my head on something or what?" Reita nodded and had to resist the urge to kiss Kai's forehead again in order to soothe his apparent anger. "Who let me have a faulty chair anyway? And what about the rest of the live?!"

Reita pulled Kai to his body and hugged him to hopefully calm his anger somewhat. That worked after a moment and Kai let the side of his head rest on Reita's soft chest. He still wanted answers, though, so he cut angry eyes across at the staff, trying to ignore the pain in his head in favor of the strong hand stroking his back--which hurt a little as well, but wasn't nearly as bad as his head--and the arm holding him around the waist.

"Well, you fell backwards and hit your head on an amp, knocking yourself out..." The manager started, shooing the other staff away so he could handle the situation. "Apparently the staff here didn't check your chair before the live, but we'll make sure to do so in the future. As for the rest of the live we had to cancel it. You've been out for almost an hour." The last part of his words made Kai grit his teeth in anger, but since he couldn't do anything to help it he just tried to focus more on Reita than the circumstances.

"Did you at least apologize to the fans?" He questioned, the manager nodding in response, which soothed Kai just a small bit but he was still furious. Reita could tell that so he murmured words to Kai that the manager couldn't hear, making Kai go close to placid a moment later.

"Where are Aoi, Uruha, and Ruki?"

"Back at the hotel." Reita replied a moment later, making sure the manager was walking away before he pressed a kiss to Kai's forehead. "They got fed up with me not letting anyone near you." A light tinge of a blush colored the bassist's cheeks at that, but it was hidden by his nose strap.

Hearing that actually made Kai smile and turn to press a soft kiss to Reita's lips in response. "Mm, I'm not surprised they wouldn't stay." He chuckled, situating himself to lean into Reita's embrace. "But that's okay that they didn't as long as you're here." Reita smiled in return and hugged Kai a bit tighter, glad his lover was in a better mood now even though he was sure the effects of the medicine hadn't clicked in yet.

With a deep sigh, Kai pulled back from Reita and rubbed his temples in agitation. "I still feel bad about what happened though. So many fans must be disappointed that they only got to see half a show. We have to make it up somehow."

Reita rubbed his back soothingly and gave him a comforting look. "Nah, I'll bet they just want to see that you're okay. I'm sure you'll get lots of fan mail." He chuckled, trying to make light of the situation. "Ruki went out and explained everything, so they should be calmed."

That seemed to make Kai feel a bit better so the smile returned and he nodded. "Then can we just go back to the hotel? I really want to sleep this headache off." He rubbed his temples again in emphasis of this, so Reita nodded almost instantly.

"Of course. Come on, let's gather our things." Kai didn't respond other than a bit brighter smile, but he did get up and go in search of his bag, trying not to focus on the intense pain in his head at the moment. "Want me to carry your things?"

Kai chuckled a little and shook his head. "I'm fine, Reita-kun. Just a headache is all." Then he walked over and pressed a deep kiss to his lover's pliant lips before breaking away to go and get his bag.

"Well, it never hurts to be sure."
