Hey, I got a job, and I don't hate it! It's at ..a...coffee shop. Imagine! I am forever a Kaufie girl. Sigh.
Oh well, it's in adorable Victorian house in a quaint little town. The food is some of the best I've ever eaten, and the coffee is superb - reminiscent of Hula Daddy which IS the best coffee I have EVER had. I've slid in with the employees really easily, none of the usual shyness. They feed me every shift (an excellent perk) and on one of the first days I started talking to the chef, Peter. Well, I guess he likes that I am interested in food because today he put a treat on my plate. Slow (and I mean slow, like 12 hours) roasted tomatoes marinated in herbs and oil. I think I'm in love!
Also, the owner Karen, has the exact same voice as Tracy, my Namesake's SO. I don't mean close, I mean if they were both in the room I wouldn't be able to tell them apart. It's bizarre! But she likes me and we joke around, which I don't see her do too much with the other employees.
The only downfall is that it's an hour from where I live - however, I'm getting around that in a number of ways. One - the trip in is excellent NPR timing. I don't remember the name of the show right now, but it's perfect. Second, initially I thought I'd be working the morning shift from 630a-1p, but luckily they switched me to afternoons, which is much more reasonable. I still get to sleep in a little (even though I have to start running in the morning) and I miss the brunt of rush hour traffic at the end of the day. It looks like as the days get longer I'll be able to watch the sunset on the drive home!
