Fuckin' aye, Fortune cookies!

First, tell me if I'm wrong, because this is a pet peeve of mine, and if I'm wrong I need to know: The popular phrase "Fuckin' A", it comes from "fuckin' aye" and would be the equivalent to "fuck yeah", right? That's how I always use it, and I hear a lot of people use it to mean the opposite.

Fortune Cookies
(from a Valentine's issue of a Martha Stewart magazine)

makes 15
Non stick cooking spray
5 Tbl unsalted butter
4 large egg whites
1 c superfine sugar
1 c all-purpose flour, sifted
pinch of salt
3 Tbl heavy cream
1 tsp almond extract

1. Heat oven to 400 degrees. Spray a cookie sheet liberally with cooking spray. Melt butter in a small saucepan over low heat; set aside.
2. In the bowl of an electric mixer, combine egg whites and sugar and beat on medium for 30 seconds. Add flour and salt and beat until combined. Add butter, heavy cream, and almond extract and beat until combined, about 30 seconds.
3. Pour 1 Tbl onto one half of the baking sheet and spread with the back of the spoon into a 5 inch circle, repeat on the other half. Bake until golden brown on the edges, about 8 minutes.
4 Remove baking sheet to a heat-resistant surface. Working as quickly as possible, slide a spatula under one of the cookies. Lift it up nd place it on a clean kitchen towel. Using your fingers, fold the cookie in half, pinching the top together to form a loose semi-circle. Hold the cookie with your index fingers inserted at each open end and slide your thumbs together and down to form the shape of a fortune cookie. This whole process should take about 10 seconds. Once the cookie hardens, which begins to happen immediately, you cannot fold it into the shape.

Repeat, repeat, repeat.

That is verbatim, up until "repeat". My experience: if you have a round cookie laid out, if you roll the bottom egde up, but leave a tongue at the top, you can just push the center of the cookie while pulling the edges toward you. And put the fortune in the cookie while it's laying flat.

foodstuffs, quirks, i'd rather be sleeping
