Dearest Friends, I had so much fun putting together that last recap that I'm back for more. But before I get into that, could someone tell me why you aren't all watching The Good Wife? Seriously, this show is quality. And I seem to be the only person on the internet who ships Alicia Florrick with Eli Gold. Meghan, you'll really like Eli. ( Read more... )

Annie started out not being able to touch things in the pilot I think, but then she could. I'll do a summary of the original UK pilot at the start of the next post.

I think the US producers went, but Twilight/True Blood/Vampire Diaries vampires are so fast and so strong with such hypnotic eyes. How will our Aidan compete without these things. Also, what do you mean he doesn't live off blood. That's confusing. Which is a real shame as it undercuts the addiction metaphor. In the original UK pilot, Mitchell was pretty much a slightly effeminate Goth. And the UK producers said, you know, I don't think he's really selling the addict aspect of his character. What we need is a slightly grungy, strung out looking character, who looks like he did some serious drugs in his day. And bam, there you have our slightly smelly Mitchell who we all adore. With Annie, they went, this girl in the pilot seems pretty tough and pretty jaded, she doesn't seem like someone who would let herself be just as powerless in life as she is now in death. And so then we got sweet love lorn Annie. All this is to say, that you shouldn't give people powers just to keep up, you should think about how those powers serve the story. I think Sally not being able to touch anything yet is fine, because it will help her empowerment arch. I think Mitchell being a superman is rather pointless.

Annie couldn't touch thing originally; that's why making tea makes her so happy. Making tea reminds her that she can now move physical items.
