Hey, Tuesday! Pig 'n a Poke!

May 12, 2009 11:59

♥ I slept in this morning until 8:39. My alarm was set for 6:30, 6:45 and 7:00 and I managed to sleep through ALL of them. Even my Winnie!Alarm didn't wake me this morning. :( Needless to say I was late for work.

♥ I've been around LJ even less than I normally am. I didn't take last week's episode of Supernatural too well and I guess I've been avoiding all things Supernatural this week. It's not so much to do with what happened in the episode but what didn't. Dare I say it (and I hate feeling this way) I found a lot of it a little slow, bordering on boring. :( *hides* It probably didn't help that I'd watched the last two episodes of the previous three previous seasons just prior to watching this one. There's a lot in those eps to live up to. Especially S1 and S2. Having said that, I've only watched the 4x21 once so I should probably give it another go. Who knows, on second viewing I might love it.

♥ Watching Supernatural 4x21 has made me all nostalgic for television of yesteryear and I've embarked on The Great X-Files Re-Watch of 2009!

I'm up to 1x20: Tooms.

MULDER: Excuse me. Could you help me find my dog? He's a Norwegian Elk Hound. His name is Heinrich. I use him to hunt moose.

SCULLY: Fox...
MULDER: *laughs* I even made my parents call me Mulder.
SCULLY: Mulder, I wouldn't put myself on the line for anybody but you.
MULDER: If there's an iced tea in that bag, it could be love.
SCULLY: Must be fate, Mulder. Root beer.

One of my favourite episodes ever! \O/

Episode 1x20 of X-Files is the first episode in which we see Assistant Director Walter Skinner played by Mitch Pileggi. You may know Mitch from such things as Supernatural episode 4x03: In the Beginning. He played Samuel Campbell, Dean and Sam's Grandfather. The episode also featured the Yellow Eyed Demon, also played by Mitch. In 'Tooms' there is also a 'Yellow Eyed Demon' and his name was Eugene Tooms. OK, so he wasn't actually a demon - more of a mutant who required human livers to feed on every 30 years or so (long story) - but he did have yellow eyes. Yeah, that was a bit of a long stretch, right. ;)

♥ Does anyone remember Shrinky Dinks? They were little pieces of printed plastic that you'd find in chip or cereal packets and you could put in the oven and they'd 'magically' shrink. (In actual fact, you used to be able to do it with the chip packets themselves...) Well, I bought some Inkjet Shrinky Dinks and check out what, or rather, who I shrunk as my test shrinks:

Shrinky Dinks before they were baked.

J2 in the oven, ready to get all hot and bothered.

J2 Shrinky Dinks during the baking process. See how they are curling towards each other in the second and third pics. Aww...

Ta-dah! Pre-Shrinking Size compared to Post-Shrinking Size.

Not sure what I'm going to do with them yet but they are kind of cool. As the plastic shrinks it gets thicker and harder so they finished pieces can be used for keyrings, zipper pulls, jewellery, etc... I could make myself a pair of J2!Earrings.

♥ Happy Tuesday!
