I don't know what to do

Feb 27, 2009 01:06

Over the last 6 weeks or so, my cat's health has deteriorated. It became obvious that he has gone completely deaf. Then, he started being picky about food, and lost a lot of weight. I made plans to take him to see the vet, but then I lost my job (they found out about my credit card theft misdemeanor) at the beginning of this month. ( this is long )

That last paragraph is a bunch of horseshit, Katy.

Kit is an old man. When any living creature gets old, it begins to shut down. Kit IS sick, but it's not your fault, it has nothing to do with anything you've done. This isn't about you, it's just that Kit is getting old. So get that guilty shit out of your head so you can think straight. Kit needs you.

Now that I have that out of the way, I want you to know that I truly understand and empathize with what you are going through right now.

Can you apply for a credit card?

I still think I could have prevented the sudden worsening of everything if I had acted sooner and if I hadn't taken him to that insane and scary clinic instead of a regular vet.... but I can't get approved for credit cards or loans of any type unfortunately, my credit score is really that bad.

Have you spoken to the doctors office about payment options for situations like this?

Good. Keep trying. Just keep focused on doing what's right for Kit. Don't get derailed by poisonous thoughts about yourself. Kit really needs you right now.

Well, that credit site is basically just like any credit application, and they denied me. I got Scott to let me use his car and took Kitz to his vet today. They too mentioned the E word, but also proposed a treatment plan where if he stays more than 3 days at the vet, I can't afford it. I checked him in anyway and am calling them to see how he is in a few hours. They are going to force feed him.

scott showed up after i got home and said it was the "most morally bankrupt thing" i had ever done, including all i've done to humans. then he yelled at me. it turned out it was because he went through this with his own cat of 18 years. He never ttalks about it. I think it's different, still.

I am making no sense, but you are one of the few people I know/knew who can empathize on the level I wish more pepole did.

I hope they can turn the situation around. I really do. I am so glad he is under the vet's care now. Makes me feel a whole lot better ( ... )

I think you made the right choice. Even if the prognosis is grim, at least the vet can make him comfortable and get him stabilized.
