bitter old men

so.... saturday, i tried to plan a nice, romantic, free day for me and chris. i planned for us to drive to helen and go to a winery where they give you free wine samplings. and then i wanted to go to anna ruby falls right around sunset, b/c that is my favorite time of day. and it was all going to be a surprise. so we got to the winery and that was nice. chris bought some wine for me b/c it was peach flavored and i really liked it. then we got stuck in traffic in helen b/c there was some festival going on that i hadn't planned on, so we got the falls a little later than i had hoped. i assumed the park would close at 6, and as we were driving in we saw a sign that said it closed at six. it was about 4:50 when we got there and it was only a .4 mile walk to the falls from the parking lot. so we had plenty of time. but when we pulled up, there was an old man standing in the middle of the road saying "turn around". so i said "sir, the park doesn't close until 6". he said "well its too late to get to the falls now. you don't have time. we open at 9 in the morning." i said "sir, we got stuck in traffic in helen, and i was hoping to take some sunset pictures on the trail." completely not listening to me, he repeated "we open at 9 in the morning" like that would really help me to take sunset pictures. i tried one last time "sir we can't come back in the morning, we drove a few hours to get here." he just said "too late, no time now" so chris turned the car around and i burst into tears b/c my nice romantic day was ruined. i was really really upset. i hate it when life isn't fair and you can't fix it. but chris cheered me up. we just parked the car at a different entrance to the park and walked on a trail by a lake at the foot of the mountain. it wasn't the waterfalls, but it was really nice and quiet and pretty. we had a fun time. i just wish that they didn't have old bitter people working at state parks that are supposed to stay open until 6.
