30 Days of Female Awesome, Day Five: Favorite female character on a male-driven show
Oh, this is very easy!
Ellen Harvelle on Supernatural
The reasoning is obvious - you don't get shows much more male-focused than SPN, and Ellen is the awesomest woman to ever bless that show with her presence. I'm talking about season 2, since that's what I've seen; I've heard rumours about what happens to her later that makes me very very happy that I'm still working on my AU and thus can't see seasons 5 and 6. (I'm pleased with my AU, slow-moving as it is. It deals mostly with body-swapping angels, has lots more women in it than the show, steals liberally from Dogma and Good Omens, and I'm really digressing here. Back to Ellen.)
Ellen can kick your ass. And she can raise her daughter to kick your ass too. And she can do it while still keeping a steady job and being a good parent, which is more than I can say about some people. (John, you know I love you, but really.) Her default facial expression shows exactly how dumb she thinks you are (very). Oh, and she's also a massive MILF.
In short, Ellen is the kind of woman I'd want to grow up to be. I mean, how can you not give your heart to a lady who has the Winchesters disarmed within seconds of meeting them? If this was a fair world, she'd have her own series. In this one, she has to settle for being so amazing even the deepest misogynist pits of SPN fandom don't hate her.
