Day 17 - Favorite mini series
When I first read this question, I figured the answer would be a Swedish show, considering all the fabulous Swedish miniseries (miniserieses?) out there. But then, the very Canadian answer crystallized:
Anne of Green Gables
I know I first saw it as an uncritical child, but considering how so many things I saw as a child are quite crappy now, I believe that I'm not clouded by nostalgia when I say that this miniseries is downright awesome. Megan Follows is so fundamentally Anne Shirley that I can't see anyone else in the role, not to mention that every time I see it, I fall in love with her all over again. I used to name the areas around my home, as a kid, just because she did.
Then there's the rest of the cast, with Colleen Dewhurst and Richard Farnsworth leading the way as Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert. They're both perfect, portraying Matthew's quiet compassion and Marilla's no-nonsense attitude to a T. I think with every new viewing, I just love them more.

The story is compressed and slightly altered, of course (and even more so in the sequel), but the heart of it is very true to the books, very charming (with Anne's slightly unhinged side making a presence too), and a true joy to watch.
