One thing I learned Wednesday I forgot to tell you: The brain's reward system really likes alcohol up to 0,5‰ = 1 glass of wine per 100 pounds of person. After that, the reward system is full, and drinking more won't make you happier. (Unless of course your real goal is to black out and forget the whole night.)

One thing I learned this morning: the word "skämskudde", meaning "shame cushion". A shame cushion is a cushion you have on your sofa, and defensively put up against your face when there's something so embarrassing/bad on TV you're ashamed on behalf of the show.
***
One thing I learned tonight: LEVERAGE IS FREAKING AWESOME!
_bounce_ tried to link me a while back, but the streams were messy so I never got around to seeing more than five minutes. Then I was recced the show again at
nextian's Character of Color Yenta Meme, and the reccer pointed out that it had everything I had said I liked. Which it did, and more! I mean, dude, I don't even have to write that good supervillain novel anymore, this is it. Clever scheming and doublecrossing for a good cause! Awesome nerd! Happy psychopath! Can-of-whoopass in a very calm package! Leader with some serious kilohawkins! GINA BELLMAN as a crappy actress who's a brilliant scam artist! I have so much love. I must go find Middleman next, since that was the other thing I'm recced.
***
Which brings me to the last thing I've learned, which is
The Character of Color Yenta Meme itself. GO SEE THIS MEME. Suggest cool CoC to people who haven't seen them yet! Ask for your favourite kinks and get suggestions! Hell, if it worked for me - almost to the T, despite me naming about half a dozen different kinks - there's no reason it won't work for you!

And finally, the February fic/TV/movie breakdown. This is the last month for TV, while I'll continue another month with fic and keep going with movies until I have 100 (which should be, but probably won't be, by the end of March).
Starting with fic, my poor redheaded stepchild:
February 10th
438 words (Zorro)
February 11th
358 words (Zorro)
February 19th
797 words (Zorro)
February 21st
368 words (Zorro) - I did some editing on the previous parts too. Editing is hard to count. I tend to count the original words and ignore later edits - which means sometimes the final word count of the story is less than the number of words I have written here. OTOH, if I were to talk of actual words put in the story each day, some days would end up in the negative, and that'd be strange.
February 22nd
729 words (Zorro)
February 27th
129 words (Zorro)
Expected number: 14000
Actual number: 2819
Expected number after eleven months: 167,000
Total number after eleven months: 61,623
Not good, but no worse than other months, thanks to Rhi inspiring me to finally get started on that Zorro story I'll use to make the fangirls hate me even more.
Next, movies:
February 1st
Day Watch - I have rarely seen a film walk such a fine line between really awesome and really bad. Even the crappiest bits had me grinning like crazy. (OMG that love scene! *dies*) I wasn't too keen on the ending, though, but I acknowledge that the reset button was introduced early on and not a deus ex machina.
February 2nd
Tuck Everlasting - not very interesting. Of course, this might be because I've read the book and knew what would happen, and once that's done there's not enough originality in the film to carry the story to another level.
Return to Oz - I've loved the song "Return to Oz" for quite some time (not to mention the wonderful BtVS video Wolfling and Magpie went for it), so when I realized it was based on an actual movie, I got interested, especially since the Nostalgia Critic spoke so well of it. And for good reason - this is just as creepy and beautiful and downright awesome as the song, and SO MUCH BETTER than the Wizard of Oz movie. It may even be the best 80s fantasy movie I've seen. That's right, it's fighting Labyrinth and The Princess Bride for the throne! If I have any complaints, it might be that the relationship between Dorothy and Ozma (while already making me want femslash where they meet some years later) would have been even juicier if Ozma had been at first bespelled into a boy like in the books, rather than just being bespelled into the mirror. (I am so predictable in my likes. *g*)
February 14th
Frost/Nixon - Very well-written and acted film, even if it may not be entirely accurate. *g* It reminded me a little of A Few Good Men, though it was really more interesting in a way, for not having such clear-cut hero and villain roles. I loved the parallells and contrasts between Frost and Nixon, and how they were both sympathetic and unsympathetic in different ways.
February 22nd
Wall-E - very sweet, and also kind of anxiety-inducing. :-)
Expected number: 8
Actual number: 5
Expected number after eleven months: 92
Total number after eleven months: 70
Definitely won't meet my goal, that's for sure. *g* I tried to watch Newsies too, but I just couldn't finish it, so I haven't counted it.
And finally, TV, which as usual is where I swell out:
February 1st
Degrassi: The Next Generation 4.18 - I watched the first few eps of DTNG once upon a time but didn't keep up with it. Maybe I should. I have very nostalgic feelings about the original. :-)
February 4th
Being Human 1.2 - Okay, yeah, I'm a fan. Not least because they're all so fricking cute. :-)
February 6th
Heroes 3.14
February 7th
Lost 5.4
Supernatural 4.14 - I've skipped a lot of SPN eps and mostly just checked spoilers to see if there'd be any advancement on the angel storyline. This one didn't have Castiel, but I figured people's comments were interesting enough to see it anyway. Okay ep, nothing special for the non-Wincesters, and I saw the twist coming from a mile away. (And I never pay attention to that stuff - I have a finely honed sense of cluelessness to help me enjoy TV.) On a sidenote, the phrase "sex and violence" always has me adding in, "I love children's television."
February 8th
Psych 3.14
America's Next Top Model 11.?

Rapport
På Spåret - kind of, was also reading The Moving Finger at the same time. And yes, I was at my parents', how could you tell? *g*
February 21st
Psych 3.16 - OMG so great! I love it when this show angsts things up a little, since it's such a rare event. And Ally Sheedy! I'm just sad I have to wait until July for another ep. Also, that fandom is so blind about the Shawn/Gus.
Lois & Clark 2.02
February ?
Being Human 1.5
Heroes 3.17
Lost 5.07
West Wing 6.20
February 27th
West Wing 6.21
February 28th
Bits of the Oscar gala - you know, it didn't occur to me until I saw it that this year was a mini Young Riders reunion. :-)
Being Human 1.6 - oh this show ROCKS SO MUCH! George vs. Herrick! Badass Annie! Mitchell with Josie! Nina! And Mitchell has a hairy back, that's funny. :-)
Expected number: 38
Actual number: 34
Expected number after a year: 500
Total number after a year: 638
As it turns out, I saw roughly 25% more than I needed to this year, though less than expected this particular month. (What on earth have I DONE this month? Except worked, of course.) Average number of shows a day over the year is 1,7, and over this month 1,2. Genres have been all over this place.
Truth be told, I'm both relieved and kind of weirded out that I don't have to note down all my TV watching anymore. Who knows, maybe this'll be beneficial for my other two counts!
