Nobody wanted to talk to me about Lene Kaaberbøl's Shamer chronicles. I am sad. (
jadelennox, have pity on me?)
Also, one thing I forgot to mention is that the play has one obvious advantage to the first book - Rosa is introduced much earlier and her friendship with Dina so emphasized that the whole thing turned rather slashy in my book. I cried and all. :-) But then, as has been determined, I cry for anything.

I accidentally volunteered for this icon meme, even though I've done it before:
Meme instructions:
1. Reply to this post and I will pick five of your icons
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose if you damn well feel like it.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon glee.
taffimai asked me about the following five:
This is from one of my favourite webcomics,
Questionable Content. Marten's mom, Veronica the bondage queen, comes to visit, and Faye is the one to open the door, asking Marten:
"Marten, there's satanic librarian at the door asking for you. Sould I let her in or start shouting Hail Marys until she leaves?" Obviously, I couldn't resist, especially since Veronica turned out to be seriously awesome (if not technically a librarian). All I had to do was add the horns and it's my standard librarian icon. :-)
The scene this comes from takes shorter time to read than explain, so
here's a link. While I only get freckles in the summer and even then mostly on my arms, I love the attitude that I'm the one to decide what's beautiful or ugly on me, not someone else. I can't always remember it, but I try to.
When I was a kid, one of the bottom drawers in my brother's dresser was filled with Swedish edition Phantom magazines, and the other with Swedish edition MAD magazines. I read both kinds religiously. I think the Phantom was the source of my deep love for kid sidekicks (Rex King FTW!), while MAD meant that I often am confused seeing a film that I vaguely remember - have I seen it, or just read the MAD parody? It also meant that I have an affinity for Alfred E. Neuman's face. Some years back, there was a MAD cover online with the X-men done as Neuman. Since Cyclops is my favourite, I cut all the others away and made an icon of him.
This is done with Photoshop, which means sometime between 2003 and 2005 (that was when I studied Library and Information Science, and the only time I've had access to a computer with Photoshop installed). There was some religious discussion going on, and I dug up a picture of an icon - the actual church kind *g* - and made this. Sadly, I've had WAY too much use for it. I don't go hunting for religious idiocy, but it seems I run into something almost daily anyway. Especially now that I've started reading unfunnybusiness, which I guess IS almost like hunting for religious idiocy. (Behold, for instance,
this post.)
Why yes, that's my default. *g* It shows Dr. Diane Hughes (Keegan Connor Tracy) from Jake 2.0, at a time when Jake is badly hurt and can only make his wishes known by possessing various machinery. That blue blot on the computer behind her is Jake. :-) Hence, the icon is multipurpose. It shows one of my favourite pairings, where he is "talking geeky" to her by possessing the computer, and talking geeky to her in general because they're both supremely geeky characters, and it's a request for the reader to talk geeky to me personally, either by recognizing the characters or just in general, AND as people have pointed out it looks kind of like me but much prettier. :-)
