Thanks for posting this. I probably know more about Islam than some of my friends, because I took a class on its history/beliefs in college, but some of these things I don't think we learned and others I knew I forgot. :-) I got about as many right as I expected--about half. *g*
*g* I've heard people claim that "Allah isn't the Christian God, he's a moon god!" which is about as intelligent as claiming that saying "father" about God invokes Jupiter. "Allah" is different from "God" only in that it's never used about minor deities.
I would like to eventually take a college course on Islam. I learned a bit about it awhile back in a world history class, but it was very basic stuff. As I study world religion, I realize that in terms of beliefs, Christianity in ways conflicts with my own internal vision of the world more often than a lot of other religions. Though I've heard that's because most people don't really study Christianity as it is supposed to be, so maybe that's because I haven't taken the time to take a class on it.
I think beliefs and practices tend to vary more within religions than between them, really. Dad likes to say that there are as many religions in the world as people, or possibly a few more. :-) But yeah, a college course on Islam would be interesting. I wouldn't take one myself, but only because it'd be too much pressure with my last name.
