nephews at the zoo

Jun 21, 2008 08:38

My sister's family are celebrating Midsummer by having a weekend holiday by the zoo, and it turns out both her boys have very interesting definitions of animals.

J, the 2-year-old, called everything "monkey".

J: Monkey, monkey, monkey, monkey.
Sis: That's a tiger.
J: Monkey.
Sis: Ti-ger.
J: Tigermonkey.

A, the 4-year-old, was on the phone with my mom (that's how I learned about the whole thing):

Sis: Tell grandma what you see.
A: I see shrimp and ostriches.
Sis: No, those are flamingos.
A: Flamingos and ostriches. They're pink!

Being their aunt, I'm allowed to melt and die just hearing about this, which I promptly did. :-)
