SPN 3x13

Well. They did save people. And since that's been my main gripe with this season, I suppose I should take it easy on this ep.

Or not. Because that was a huge waste of time. C. and I had a talk about the outsider POV the other day, and how the purpose of it should be to offer new insights to the characters - take a step away to get the full picture.

This ep certainly didn't do that. I'm pretty sure it wasn't trying to do that. It was trying to be funny, with about a per cent of the finesse of a plastic turd. I didn't smile once.

It took the mickey out of fandom, but I'm entirely used to shows doing that and pretty much don't care. (Though it makes me love the Press Gang ep UnXpected ever so much more for making the fan the rational one who realizes that the show is stupid and the fantasy deranged, but plays along because life is more fun that way. Of course, Steven Moffat is a colossal fanboy himself.)

I'm not pissed off or anything. It's not an ep that turns the boys into villains, or introduces insulting religious ideas, or kills off awesome characters for kicks, or pretends that all the world is just like the US in terms of mythology. Okay, so it killed off the gay guy, but it also had gay love save the day, so, whatever.

It was just the most fundamentally MEH episode I have seen from this show, ever. Much more of this and I'm out for good.
