yay 80s nostalgia
How to cheer myself up: Discover on YouTube the sketch from Helt Apropå's The Prize in which Gorbatjov gives out prizes to the least remarkable Soviet citizens of the year. I started laughing just seeing that it was up there, before the clip had even started. :-)
And then, of course, I clicked another video link... and another... and another... and watched so many lovely clips from 80s TV (mostly kiddy shows) that I'm still beaming.
There's the intro to Sagostunden (Storytime), with Astrid Lindgren appearing towards the end. There's a bit of Swedish spoken, but the song itself is instrumental, and the animation delightful. (You guys who remember Karl-Bertil Jonsson's christmas? It's the same animator.)
Speaking of Astrid Lindgren, the always brilliant Allan Edwall sings a song about throwing cow dung in Rasmus på Luffen. (In Swedish.)
Magister Flykt and his class are even more relatable now that I'm a teacher. (Intro in Swedish, but do watch for the animation and music.)
For sheer absurdity, nothing beats the Ulla Bella Rap (Swedish), and I also found the lyrics on another site.
The lyrics to the Professor Baltazar theme song are much simpler. :-) The clip is in English, but for the theme song itself that hardly matters.
And of course some of the stuff I used to watch was Anglosaxon in origin. Behold, for instance, the intro to Raggy Dolls, or Trasdockorna as they were called in Swedish. Lovely morals in a catchy tune. *g* For those of you who prefer the original, that theme song is available too.
For older kids, there was, for instance, Klassliv, which is so adorably bad that I just love it. Oh, those hooligan boys! *giggles* And I find it quite sweet that Swedish TV in the 80s permitted locker graffiti to say "löskuk" ("fake cock").
And then there's Agaton Sax, Från A till Ö, Lagt kort ligger, Ebba och Didrik, Planeten Gyllenblå, Storstad, and a whole bunch of other things I expect you to now find yourself if you're feeling as nostalgic as I am. :-)
Och för er svenskar (som väl är de som eventuellt brytt er alls) har jag även något helt annorlunda, nämligen en tjej som sjunger Blue Bird av Hull så jag bara smälter. Fan vet om hon inte är bättre än Imperiet.
