Wow the stupidity of the world never ceases to amazes me.

Also FMA is awesome. I haven't seen much of the anime but I read the manga when they're released here. From what I understand the manga is a bit darker though. Still very good.

Interesting that you should say that - roseveare's main complaint about the anime was that it's so much angstier than the manga. Of course, angsty and dark isn't really the same thing.

From what little of the anime I've seen I would agree with that statement. Dark =/= angst.

I should really pick up the first manga at the library. I just suck at reading mangas, especially the action scenes. (And no, it's not the right-to-left thing, because Ranma 1/2 is printed left-to-right in Sweden and I still can't read the action scenes.)

Wow. Didn't anyone ever teach Daddy-in-law about the whole actions/consequenses thing? What an eejit.

I'm with you. I hope he gets a lesson here that actually takes.

What really stuns me is that according to the newspaper, he wrote (my translation back from the Swedish translation):

"Watch out for [name], he is most likely connected to the muslim terror organization al-Qaida's network in Sweden, and he's known for his statements about helping the muslim world to get revenge for US terror acts." He also gave them the flight number, a recent photo, and wrote that "He'll probably try to give the impression of being in the US for a business trip, but he's actually meeting his connections."

And yet, when the newspaper talks to him, he puts all blame on the FBI for their "paranoid reaction" and bitches and moans about how unfair they're being to him. I have very strong urges to subject this man to violence.

Okay, now we've gone a long way past the land of stupid. Now we're in the land of vindictive shit-head trying to back-pedal because he got caught. Since he's Swedish, he probably can't be done for "wasting police (FBI) time" (unfortunately), but he certainly can and should be done for criminal libel.

Oh, he's been charged with it. "Grovt förtal", which I guess would be translated as severe libel?

Am I a bad person for hoping daddy-in-law gets bitch-slapped REALLY HARD by the FBI?

Holy hell.

You are in no way a bad person for that reaction. I'm hoping Daddy-in-Law goes to *jail* for that. And his arguement is stupid too. If he didn't think the FBI would do something, why did he send the email in the first place?

Also wondering why the Wife didn't just send the kids over to her parents' place.

He said he'd thought the husband would get a "telling-to". Yeah. 'Cause that's what FBI do with suspected terrorists.

He also made some lame excuse about the husband being involved in war gaming, which he had "misinterpreted", but that was pretty clearly just backpeddling.

Also wondering why the Wife didn't just send the kids over to her parents' place.

It doesn't say. I assume that they weren't in danger of being mistreated, or else the husband is a bit of a douchebag too, but douchebag =/= terrorist.
