New fic comm to celebrate eid!
Thanks to minim_calibre, I discovered the newly formed eid_fic, asking for drabbles or ficlets about Muslim characters. The stories are in celebration of Eid, which is RIGHT NOW, so I'll have to brainstorm fast - and so do you guys, because I really hope you're going to join in!
Neither Eid nor the characters' Muslim identity need to feature in the ficlets. All that's required is that the chars are Muslim.
As I understand it, the community will permit fics after Eid is over too, so even if you're not a fast writer, join and post something later.
For me, I quickly realized that my longfic features lots of Muslim OCs but even the first chapter cannot possibly be edited on time, and that my newly started fic features another Muslim, but won't be finished on time either, and either way I think it'd be cheating since it's more Sawyer than Sayid anyway. Plus that I don't think BDSM fics are quite in the spirit of Eid. :-)
Fandoms I've thought about include Little Mosque, some Robin Hood version, Aliens in America, Castle in the Air, and I did think about Does My Head Look Fat in This before I realized that I'd have to re-read the book and there's no time for that.
Thinking on my feet like this will be fun. :-)
ETA: Have now thought on my feet and produced an Alien in America ficlet. Angsty, because I have no concept of what's appropriate to write for a sitcom. :-) Does anyone English-speaking want to have a beta look? You don't have to know the show, I just need to make sure I haven't made any glaring mistakes. 381 words, so it's a quick job. *g*
