Interests meme

Comment on this post and I will pick seven of your interests. You then explain them in your journal and re-post.

axa picked interests, but she was lazy (and knows me too well), so she only picked five. If someone else wants to pick two more, that's fine. :-)

does vader's penis exist?
Ah yes. This is all pingviini's fault. Two years ago, she mentioned in a meme post that she wasn't sure it was possible to have sex with Darth Vader. I was tickled by a thought and made a post regarding Darth Vader's man parts. The most popular answer was, "Who cares? I can have Darth Vader man parts or a black dildo with James Earl Jones's voice and weird Force powers. It's all good." Never the less, the question continued to intrigue me, and so I added it as an interest.

oh dean!
All musesfool. It expresses something a lot of Supernatural fans tend to say after each Supernatural episode, since many of those eps seem specifically designed to have the impossibly gorgeous Jensen Ackles cry pretty man tears. (And look! There are even YouTube vids on the subject! Have one!)

...I make fun at the man tears, but I love them. :-)

cyclops
After the first X-men movie, you were kind of expected to be a Wolverine girl. That changed later (minisinoo did wonders for Cyke's cred, for one), but I still hold this sort of defensiveness about the subject. Yes, I prefer Cyclops, okay? To begin with, it was mostly for shallow reasons - I mean, God, when he fired up that smile... and like I said in my previous post, I cannot resist dimples. Also, I found it interesting that he's the one guy on the "good side" who can't pass, and it's such a small thing that keeps him from doing so; tiny, really, and yet so damning. That was interesting. But once I started reading & researching, it became a lot more than just those things. I think (YMMV) that most of what was interesting about Wolverine in the movies, Hugh Jackman brought to the part, while Cyclops is a char that just becomes more fascinating the more you see.

But then, I have a thing for repressed tight-asses. Especially gorgeous repressed tight-asses.

czar's cafe
This ties into the next interest. Czar's Café was a local hang-out for the kids in Press Gang. The owner claimed to be the rightful czar of all Russia ("I'm in between reigns") and the waitress was called Anastasia. Just those little touches of crazy that added to the flavor of the show. :-) There was even an episode called "Breakfast at Czar's".

moffat

axa knows very well who Moffat is; she gave me this one just to allow me to talk about the subject. *grin*

Once upon a time, some British producers got a script they declared was the best script they'd ever seen from a first-time writer. The script was called "The Norbridge Papers" and was about a children's newspaper. The idea belonged to a guy called Bill Moffat, and his son Steven had written the script.

Producer Sandra Hastie got in touch with Steven Moffat, and Press Gang was created. The show lasted for 43 episodes running over 5 seasons, and Steve wrote all of them. As a young impressionable child, I saw the show on Swedish TV, and it remains my favourite show ever. Smart and bitchy editor Lynda Day may not be the best role model in the traditional sense, but she's a freaking brilliant character, and someone I really needed in my life. Those of you who want to can watch the first series legally here on ITV's website. Or start by browsing my posts on the subject.

After Press Gang came a bunch of shows I didn't pay attention to (I think they didn't air here), and then came Coupling. Coupling didn't have all the different depths and angles that Press Gang did - it was a pretty straight forward comedy. A pretty hilarious straight forward comedy. Again, you can browse my posts and see for your self. Or watch the eps - they're not available for streaming, but there's always the DVDs or *cough* torrents *cough*.

A while later, Steven Moffat started writing for Doctor Who, and I'm pretty sure the DW fans among you are very familiar with his name by now. For those only moderately interested in the Doctor and his hijinks, Moffat has so far written four eps: "The Empty Child"/"The Doctor Dances" two-parter, "The Girl in the Fireplace", and "Blink". The two first adventures have each earned him a Hugo, and if "Blink" doesn't get at least nominated, it'll be because the Hugo people are tired of giving stuff to Steven Moffat every year. The stories showed Moffat's sharp humour, his knack for drama - and they also showed that he could be scary to a degree I don't think most people had realized. I certainly hadn't. There are PG eps that are creepy, or suspenseful, but I still sleep well at night. I had real difficulty sleeping after watching Blink.

He continued in the scariness vein by doing Jekyll, a very interesting show if not necessarily as scary as the subject matter would suggest. (Though the end creeps me out.)

Now he's allegedly working on an adaptation of Tintin, along with some people called Peter Jackson and Steven Spielberg. Wonder how that'll turn out?

And the length of this last explanation (most of which I'm sure is old news to a lot of you) teaches us one thing: Never get Katta started on her favourite subjects. :-)
