random ramblings

What I really hate about having my period is that the first day, it hurts something awful. I take as many Paracetamol as I'm possibly allowed, and yet my feet ache and I have an insane urge to shove a hot water bottle up my vagina to stop the rest of the aching.

On the second day, the pain is almost completely gone. I may feel a bit tender, I may take one Paracetamol, and I'll still want to wear socks to protect my feet from aching, but mostly I'll be fine.

...Until my stomach collapses from having been fed 8 Paracetamols in 24 hours.

It's almost enough to make me want to get back on the pill. But I feel about the same way about gynaecologists as I feel about asking the social services for money: that's my personal business and I don't want to talk to them about it.

Which is kind of ironic considering I have no problem writing about it on the Internet for all the world to see.

While everyone else is obsessing over Harry Potter (and judging by the very diverse interpretations I've seen, there are some serious flamewars ahead!) I'm all excited because I finally saw the first ep of Coupling season 4 and SUSAN KISSED JANE!!!

Okay, so she only did it to "save" Jane from Oliver, whom she thought was a pervy gynaecologist, but I don't care, because they're both so pretty, and it was such a long and lovely kiss, and it seemed Jane rather liked it, though that might be me reading into things. But hey, SUSAN KISSED JANE!

Sorry. That just felt like something that required caps. Twice.

That aside, it's nice to see Sally and Patrick starting to get... well, serious is probably the wrong word for the two of them, but the closest thing. And I think I'm going to like Oliver. I mean, not only is he a complete nerd who's still cute, but his shop is called "Hellmouths" for crying out loud. Total jackpot. And he was so very very bad at flirting. *g* He may not be Jeff, but he's still a pretty nice, more low-key addition to the cast.

Another Buffy moment: Sally said "Bored now." I totally don't think that was a coincidence. Not with Hellmouths in the same ep. I already knew Steven Moffat liked Buffy (he jokes about the Spikes thing on the Pres Gang season 2 DVD) but this was still a nice surprise.

I was at my parents' yesterday, and a lady called from the ministry of foreign affairs (Swedish State Department). I informed her that dad was off in Malmö doing a radio show. "Oh, well please tell him that his article in Svenska Dagbladet was brilliant. Also, we're doing a thing on the important of worldviews on foreign affairs, and we'd like his input."

I started noting it down. "The importance of... worldviews, you said?"

"On foreign affairs, yes, but mostly I just wanted to say how brilliant that article was."

:-D

I think it's so cool - yeah, okay, so she wanted something from him, but it was clear that to her, the positive feedback was at least as important as the wanting something.

It made me realize just how rare those moments of fangirlish squeeing is in the real world, compared to fandom. It's pretty rare for people to make a phone call to say, "Hey, well done!"

...I like fandom better. *hugs fandom*
