Weird pic of the day: Suddenly he was feeling a bit unwell...I have spent most of the weekend sleeping, since I was up late at the Queer Party Friday and had a bit to drink. The first two hours of the party, I was working in the wardrobe section with a German exchange student. Not to many people came to hang up their coats, so we were bored. Thus

I have to say I always liked Wesley even as the goofy, pathetic caricature he was in Buffy S3. On his first eps of Angel he was still much the bumbling, comic relief, although with a much needed courage in the mix, I was sorta ambivalent with his character by then (I`ve never really allowed myself to get attached to Doyle, since I knew he was going to die pretty soon anyway). I think the point I`ve really started to think "hey this guy`s not only the most interesting character of the show, he`s also *gasp* damn sexy" was by the middle of S2 when Wes was in a wheelchair after being shot and he stood up to Angel when he sort of threatened Cordy, opening a few stitches in the way. I know it`s silly, but there it is. Nothing like seeing our man hurt and being brave about it. *g* Of course, by the time Angel tried to choke him in the hospital in S3 I was already lost and cursing Angel`s name for being such an asshole. ;)

Well, if it's going to take until mid-season 2 I suppose I'd better teach myself patience. :-) But at least you, like me and like Padma, didn't *dis*like him from the start, and that's always a good sign. I mean, there were Wesley-must-die dart boards back in the day.

Suddenly I`m getting all protective of my poor Wes. How could anyone wish him dead? I mean he wasn`t always the three dimensional character he grew out to be on Angel, but he was such a lovable one as the conceited but awkward Watcher. Plus, he`s English! I realize that not everyone shares my attraction for English men, but c`mon. I think Gile`s sexy too.

Anyway, I think Alexis Denisof is a great actor and was an excellent addiction to the cast, he doesn`t stand out much but he provides that calm assurance amd equilibrium the show desperately needed between two larger than life characters such as Angel and Cordelia. Is the story about Glenn Quinn (Doyle) causing problems on the set because of his addiction to drugs and alcohol true? People say that`s the real reason he left the show. I only learned some days ago that he died in 2002. It`s sad really, he was a fine actor too.

The web hatred for Wes was quite astounding in its day - I remember seeing him on Buffy for the first time after being thoroughly spoiled and going, "But he's *funny*!" And I dug up the dart board - it's still around. Look here!And Giles is way sexy
