I'm doing that ten impopular opinions thing. Only it ended up twelve. I wrote ten, then I wrote the Orlando thing as a sort of 8b, and then some stuff pissed me off and I wrote the last one. And once I'd written the last one I figured Orlando might get his own entry. Most of the opinions are fandom-related, some are not.
1. Bodybuilders are extremely unattractive. With their oiled-in, hairless, tanned muscles, they look more like grilled chicken than anything else.
2. Smallville is one of the most tedious and poorly written TV shows that has been done in the supernatural genre.
3. Islam as a religion is more appealing than Judaism as a religion.
4. Watching sports is a total waste of time.
5. Harry Potter fans should use the time they spend waiting in lines to instead read some other kiddy fantasy and perhaps buy a clue.
6. Joss Whedon is a pretentious, didactic brat who needs to get over himself.
7. Ingmar Bergman movies can be pretty damned funny.
8. Elves are incredibly boring in most versions, particularly Tolkien's.
9. And Orlando Bloom is about as much fun as watching paint dry.
10. Al-Jazeera is worthy of more respect than CNN is.
11. Real liquorice candy is salt, not sweet.
and making a full dozen:
12. Just because I respect your right to have and express an opinion, that doesn't mean I have to respect the opinion as such or not find you completely and utterly wrong.

I saw Frodo yesterday. We were heading to Malmo for a concert (celebrating my brother's birthday), and Frodo was sitting on the bus, on one of those things where you're meant to put your bags. The likeness was uncanny - I wouldn't have been surprised if he'd had pointy ears and big hairy feet. Weird feeling to see him there.

Having read a bunch of Highlander fic, I still don't get why the immortals bother with the Game. I mean, I guess the ones who just won't fight end up dead and are never heard from again, but why don't people cheat more often?
If someone comes up to you and says "there can be only one", I'd figure the smartest thing to do would be to say "okay", shoot him, and then cut his head off while he's down. If he has to be alive to be killed, shooting his arms and legs should incapacitate him adequately.
Is there some good reason why they don't do this?

I should stop going to TWoP. It just keeps pissing me off. And if I do go to TWoP, I should stay out of the forums, or at the very least forums involving Strega, who tends to piss me off more than any of the others.
I think one main problem with TWoP, apart from paying people to do what most fans would do for free and gladly, is that the type of personality that works on a recapper (bitchy, witty and opinionated) is not the type of personality that works on a forum moderator. It annoys me to no end that the mods can post generalized, provocative statements and then avoid a debate by saying that things are going off topic and off topic posters will be banned.
Should. Stop. Going. There.
